Obituary: Carolyn Sue, nee London Watts, 75, born May 19, 1939 in Madisonville, Texas, passed away on , 27, 2014 at Red Bud Regional Hospital, Red Bud, Illinois. Carolyn was a retired nurse, working for Touchette Regional hospital, Centreville, Illinois for twenty years. She was a member of the White Shrine. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Carolyn enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Lorrain, nee Dudley London; brothers, Steven London and William London. Surviving are her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Herman E. Watts; children, Dennis Watts of Batesville, AR, Joseph (Donna) Watts of Pueblo, CO., Andrew (Angie) Watts of Dupo, IL., and Susan (Wes) Higgerson of Dupo, IL; grandchildren, Beth (Zach) Chism, Katie Higgerson, Joseph (Ashley) Watts, Tiffany (Ozzie) Luna, Nathan (Kayla) Watts and Heather Dietz; four great grandchildren; siblings, Dr. Gary (Susan) London, Michael (Sharon) London, Charles (Donna) London, Shirley Steinbeck and Jennie London; sister in law, Patty London; special friends, Jim and Mickey Shelby of West Branson, MO, also, survived by other relatives, family and friends. Obituary: Betty Jean Jeannie Watts, 89, of Springfield, formerly of Galva, Illinois, passed away on , 12, 2015, at Regency. She was born on May 27, 1925 in Kewanee, Illinois, to Wilfred and Mary Miller Stork. She married Warren E. Watts on 15, 1947 in Springfield and he preceded her in death on 28, 2010. She is survived by three daughters: Deborah Watts of Springfield, Rebecca (Richard Garretson) Watts of Columbus, Ohio, and Mary E. Myers of Springfield; two grandchildren: Tara Cowan (fiance, Rusty Petty) and Gabe Cowan, both of Springfield; one sister, Mary Ann (Ron) Graham of Mendon, Illinois; one niece, Cyndee (Rodger) Brown, one nephew, Scott (Susan) Graham, and one great niece Amanda Brown. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law Kenneth Myers and her nephew James Graham. Betty graduated from Springfield High School and worked for The Medical Group in Springfield for more than 40 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Springfield Jayshees; she enjoyed sewing, knitting, Pleasant Plains High School basketball, and reading about Abraham Lincoln. Mrs. Watts became a St. Louis Cardinals fan at the age of nine after hearing a radio broadcast of the Gashouse Gang. She enjoyed many outings to Cardinals games at Sportsman's Park and every recreation of Busch Stadium. She was a member of Laurel United Methodist Church and Trinity United Methodist Church, where she played piano for the Chapel Choir and Sunshine Choir, served as church treasurer, and sang in the Chancel Choir. Betty was a devoted fan of the Springfield Muni Opera, the Springfield Municipal Band, and The Capital City Mens Chorus. Mr. and Mrs. Watts volunteered at Memorial Medical with the Heartfelt Program, mentoring and supporting patients recovering from heart procedures. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on , 16, 2015, at Laurel United Methodist Church, 631 South Grand Avenue West, and burial will follow at Oak Ridge . The family will meet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on at Bisch West, 2931 Koke Mill Road. Memorial contributions may be made to Laurel United Methodist Church or to the Springfield Muni Opera. Obituary: ROCK FALLS – Berdett Bert G. Watts, 91 of Rock Falls died 17, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on 15, 1930 in Mozier, IL the son of William LeRoy and Mary Margaret (Fox) Watts. He served in the US Army during the Korean War where he was a member of the Airborne Rangers and a POW. He married Rosemary Duncan on 24, 1971. Bert had worked in various occupations throughout his life, most in sales positions. Bert was a dreamer. He was always drawing up a plan or a design for something. He was most proud of his part in the layout and the design of the Disc Golf Course at Nims Park. He had ability to conceive, plan and implement a project to its completion. Bert enjoyed gardening and was known for raising and selling tomatoes from his stand in front of his house. A tool he used to teach his children sales, advertising, and money management. He enjoyed going to the casinos, and was a true Chicago CUBS and BEARS fan. He was very proud of all of his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; his children: Mark LeRoy (Carol) Watts of Valdosta, GA, Luva Marie Watts of Rock Falls, Robert LeRoy (Neddie) Watts of Rock Falls, William Berdett Watts of Loves Park, IL, DeAnna Lucille (Steve) Mulvaney of Cambridge, IL and John Warren (Cheryl) Watts of Rock Falls, Donald Gordon of New Smyrna Beach, Fl; 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and several very special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters: Lucille, Lola, Helen, Luva; two brothers: Warren and twin brother Berdell. Visitation will be held on 25, 2021 from 1-3 PM at the McDonald & Crematory, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. The funeral will follow at 3 PM with the Reverend Dalmus Meeks officiating. Military Honors will conclude the services at the funeral home. |
