Varney, 77, of Denver passed away on 7th at his home in Denver. Larry was born in Ansley, Nebraska to George and Kathleen Varney on 27, 1939. He spent 28 years with the Denver Fire Department and retired as a Lieutenant. Larry was a faithful, selfless individual who showed great integrity and love. He was always welcoming and humble. Larry was a car enthusiast, loved Hawaii, his cabin in Grand Lake, boating, fishing, golfing, and most importantly, his family. His family meant everything to him. include his wife, who he loved so much he couldn't be without, Donna; his beloved children, Julie and Scott Heiss, Kent and Kelli Varney, David and Valerie Varney; his adored grandchildren, Torry Heiss (Tyler Yowell), Kristy Heiss (Scott Rolloff), Morgan Varney (Raymond Paolini), Lexie Varney (Ian Forbes-Harlan), Jordan Varney and Sarah Varney. He is also survived by many other family members and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on , 12th at 10am at Church of The Risen Christ in Denver. Larry will be laid to rest at Ft. Logan National on , 12th at 12PM, Committal Pavilion A. Obituary: Dorothy M. Varner, 97, passed away surrounded by family at North Shore and Rehabilitation Facility in Loveland, Colorado on , May 2, 2011. She was born on 14, 1913 in Adams, Nebraska to Henry McCullough and Anna (Hasch) McCullough. Dorothy was a 1932 graduate of Ovid High School, Ovid, Colorado. She and Keith F. Varner were married on May 17, 1934 in Ovid, Colorado. He worked at the newspaper in Ovid and she was a dental assistant in Julesburg, Colorado before moving to Paris, Idaho, where they owned and managed the Paris Post. In 1957 they moved to Wheat Ridge, Colorado, where Dorothy lived until , 2011. She began work as a dental assistant in 1957 and retired in 2006 at the age of 93. She received awards as Dental Assistant of the Year. She enjoyed weekly trips to Blackhawk with her son and riding her stationary bike up to 10 miles a day. Dorothy and Keith were members of the Wheat Ridge Methodist Church. Survivors are her son, James L. (Sharon) of Johnstown; grandson, James R. (Melinda) Loveland; granddaughter, Shannon of Salem, Oregon; great-granddaughter, Lily, of Salem, Oregon; daughter-in-law, Susan of Salem, Oregon; nieces and nephews; and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; husband; son, Mack; and grandson, Mark. Viewing will be , May 5 at 4 p.m. at Crown Hill Mortuary and . services will be , May 6 at 3 p.m. at Crown Hill Mortuary and Interment to follow immediately after the service. A reception will be held at Crown Hill Mortuary reception room following interment.
