Obituary: Lloyd L. Vance Lloyd L. Vance, affectionately known as Bo, went home to be with the Lord on 17, 2014. He was born in Hillsboro, Pocahontas on 1, 1916 to Ernest L. Vance and Abigail M. Vance, nee Casto. Lloyd and his family also lived in Spruce (Pocahontas), Big Draft (White Sulpher Springs area), Alderson and Rainelle. Lloyd was married in 1940 to Icie Imogene Gwinn of Lockbridge, Summers ; the following year twins were born to them. Lloyd and his young family moved to Charleston in 1942, where Lloyd took up employment with the Kelly Ax Factory (True Temper Corp.). Lloyd faithfully cared for Icie in her declining years, his beloved wife of sixty-six years. She passed away in 2006. Bo and Icie were utterly devoted to each other, having four children together: Vance Groves of New Haven; John L. Vance and wife Marlene of Beekman, NY; Mynda Vance Lorenz and husband Walter of Grand Rapids, MI; Brian Roger Vance and wife Janet of Charleston. Sandra Hadauc Fisher was like a daughter and lived with the Vances much of her teen years; she and husband Richard reside in Charleston. Lloyds longevity allowed him to see twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and three great- great grandchildren. Other surviving family members besides his many nieces and nephews are his sister Vance Grizzle of Jacksonville, FL and sister-in-law Dorothy (Dot) Stanley Gwinn of Newark, DE. Lloyd worked for the former Meadow River Lumber located in Rainelle and the former True Temper Corporation of Charleston. At True Temper he was a tool and die maker, a vocation of which he was proud. He developed and maintained many life-long friendships with his co-workers. his retirement in 1978 he always looked forward to the annual True Temper reunion. Lloyds delight and passion, though, was his identity and life as a Christian. He was markedly devoted to Christ and his church, and in particular to the Charleston Mountain Mission Church. Over the years he supported and honored the pastors and ministers of the church from the Rev. Hobson Fisher to its current senior pastor the Rev. Fairley McCormick. In the church he served as a School teacher, as a volunteer in the welfare division, as a board member of the local church, and as a member of the board that oversaw all the divisions of the Mountain Mission Corporation. The zenith of his service came in later years when he was honored to serve concurrently as chairman of both the local church board and the board that governed its two churches and its welfare division. Under his tutelage and direction the Mountain Mission Corporate Board adopted substantial new by-laws, an accomplishment that granted independence to the Dunbar Mountain Mission and that redefined the relationship between the Charleston Mountain Mission Church and its Welfare division. He was gratified with the results and was confident that with the Lords blessing and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit these ministries would go forward with greater resolve and energy, better equipped to meet the challenges of the future. His loved ones believe that Lloyd L. Vance has been received into the company of the saints. As the Book of Revelation states: … I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them (KJV: 14:13). Services will be 4:00 PM 22, 2014 at Charleston Mountain Mission Church with Rev. Fairley McCormick and Rev. John Vance officiating. Private family burial will follow on in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 PM also at the Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Charleston Mountain Mission Radio Broadcast Ministry, 1600 Seventh Avenue, Charleston, WV 25387. |

Obituary: MARGARET DELORES COOPER VANCE, age 82 years, a resident of Harman, WV departed this life evening 7th, 2016 surrounded by her family at the Valentine Personal , Elkins WV. She was born , 25, 1933 at Rich Mountain, Randolph WV, a daughter of the late Sampson and Elizabeth Grace Shears Cooper. On 4, 1950 at Oakland, MD, she was married to Snoden Oliver Vance, who preceded her in death May 2, 2013. had celebrated sixty two years of marriage. Surviving are two sons, Teddy Lee Vance and wife Susie Sun Sim of Elkins, Thomas Samson Vance and wife Charlotte Ann of Harman; two daughters, Linda Louise Wolford and husband Tony Lane of Harman, Faith Olivia Cragg and husband Tim Cragg of Elkins; one brother, Tim Cooper of Gilman; one sister Bonnie Waybright of Zanesville, OH; five grandchildren, Sabrina, Shawn, Chad, Sheldon, and Ashley; four great grandchildren, LeeAnne, Austin, Kyle, and Brigette. Preceding her in death are two sisters, Arlene Brown and Collette Bennett. She attended the school at Harman. She was a former employee of the Allegheny Restaurant, Reidboard of Elkins and she was a maker. She was a member of the Worldwide Church of God. She enjoyed crochet, quilting, gardening and canning. She was a grandmother to the children at the Harman School. The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb of Elkins on from 5 to 8 PM.
