Obituary: Herbie Haswell Viars, 87, of Ridgeway, passed away , 26, 2015 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital with his loving daughters and grandson by his side. He was born in Montgomery on 14, 1927 to the late James Edward Viars and Dora Viars. Herbie retired after more than forty years with Gravely Furniture which later become Pulaski Furniture . In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Virginia Viars, three sisters, Josie Nester, Dorothy Gallimore and Betty Fitzgerald, three brothers, Elmer, George and Emmett Viars. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Marie Konorosky of Ridgeway and Joyce Ann Irvine of Ridgeway, two grandsons, Jackie Edward Austin and James Michael Holland two great grandchildren, Linsday Austin and Brandon Austin both Ridgeway, two great-great granddaughters, Savanna Austin of Bassett and Mackennize and one sister, Gladys DeHart of Bassett. The family will receive friend 6-7:00 P.M. , 28, 2015 in the Community Service and other times at the home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. , 29, 2015 in the Community Service Chapel with Director Kelly G. Ratcliff officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View in Ridgeway. |

Obituary: Charles G Viars Charlie Viars of Fairfax, VA, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on , 31, 2014. He died peacefully surrounded by his family, following a brief illness. He was 79 years old. Despite his illness, Charlie continued to display his gracious attitude and competitive spirit to those around him until the very end. Charlie was born on May 4, 1935 in Oak Hill, WV. serving his country in the Air Force, he attended Zion Bible , which led him to preach at Aspley Assembly of God church in Nottingham, England before becoming a pastor at an Assembly of God church in Dundee, Scotland. Upon returning to the United States, he worked for the Department of Defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Naval Electronics Security Command and retired at age 70 from the National Security Group with 42 years of Federal service. Charlie was an active member of the American Legion Post 139, serving as the Athletic Director, Chaplain and most recently, the Post Commander. He also coached youth basketball and baseball for over 30 years. He will be warmly remembered for his uninhibited commitment to serving others, his kind-hearted and compassionate nature, and his enduring love of baseball and basketball. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Joy Viars; three daughters, Joy Bullock, Julia Field and Michele Cave; six grandchildren, Tara Segura, Luke Bullock, Leah Field, Hannah Field, Ethan Cave and Noah Cave; and three sons-in-law, John Bullock, Michael Field and Steven Cave. under the direction of Murphy s, Arlington, VA. |

Tyler loved to visit the state of West Virginia, as well as having a love for hunting and fishing. Obituary: Peggy Spradlin Viar, 91, of Lynchburg, died , 19, 2015, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Clarence William Viar, Sr. Born in Lynchburg, she is the daughter of the late Walter Thomas Spradlin and the late Ida Wills Spradlin. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Clarence W. Viar, Jr. and Jesse Butch Bobbitt; two daughters, Delores V. Deacon and Sheila V. Clark; one granddaughter, Lisa D. Williams and two sisters, Rosebud S. Cousin and Lucille S. Guzinsky and her devoted daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Burns Liz Dickerson. Peggy was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church and was retired from General Electric Corp. She is survived by one son, Ollie H. Buddy Bobbitt and his wife, Judy, of Danville; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Lionel was a devoted father, loving son and brother and a friend to all. He loved helping others especially the elderly.
