Obituary: Ina Genelle Voelker of Austin, Texas was born on 20, 1935 to Bernhard (Ben) and Anna Hohertz Marburger; she passed away on 3, 2014. Ina and her husband Neill met on a blind date and were married in 1961. Ina was a long time member of St. Martins Lutheran Church and was a loyal, generous loving friend who was an avid lover of animals. She worked at the University of Texas in the Chancellors office, Presidents Office, Budget Office and their Athletic Business Office for a total of 30 years, retiring at age 48 years. Ina was preceded in death by her parents Bernhard (Ben) and Anna Marburger. She is survived by her husband Albert Neill Voelker, sister-in-law Carolyn Ann Sandlin, brother-in-law Frank Lynn Voelker (Charlotte) cousins Ramona Bode, Curtis Neitsch, Rodney Hohertz and Evelyn Tucker, and other numerous relatives, close personal friends Geraldine and Ronda Comer, Bennie Lee Engelke, Marilyn Landberg. Obituary: Isabel Lang Voelkel, age 97, of Austin died 6, 2016. She was born at home to Walter and Amalia Brinkrolf Lang on 15, 1919, in Harper, Texas. Isabel was the oldest of 7 children. She was a direct descendant of the German Immigrants who settled in Fredericksburg in 1846. Her parents moved to Fredericksburg when she was 3, and she grew up there and attended St. Marys Parochial School and High School. She was a lifelong Catholic. She married Oscar E. Voelkel in 1941, and they moved to Austin in 1949. He preceded her in death in 1979. She was also preceded in death by her brother Walter Lang Jr., sisters Virginia Jung, Ida Mae Fiedler, and Dorothy Leihsing. Isabels surviving sisters are Rita Morrison and Teresa White. She is survived by 3 daughters, Peggy Williams and Husband Don of Austin, Jo Lynn Furlan of Austin and Teresa Lovejoy of Brazoria. Obituary: Forrest Allen Voelkel, age 77, passed away 16, 2016. He was born on 1, 1938, to Agnes Bernice Rohan Voelkel and Whitmore Forrest Voelkel in Yorktown, Texas. He was raised in Nordheim, Texas. He graduated from Runge High School in 1957. He enlisted in the Army and served from 1957-1960. He married his wife, Sondra Voelkel, of 56 years on 1, 1960. Forrest was currently employed by Del Mar Distributing Co, Inc. as the Data Processing Manager. Over the years he also worked as a Manager at CCAD, a Professor of Computer Science at Del Mar , and owned & operated Data Support and Program Design, Inc. While his sons were growing up, Forrest was a dedicated volunteer for Cub Scouts/Boys Scouts of America. He enjoyed being a mentor to his own sons, as well as, the other boys in the pack/troop. He tried to ensure the boys understood the Boy Scouts values of serving God, being trustworthy, helpful, friendly, kind, and obedient. He also served as Cub Scout baseball coach and umpire. He helped with Troop 327 troop through Wesley UMC. He was honored with various awards and certificates from the Boy Scouts of America. Forrest enjoyed various sports, but softball was his passion. He was a great pitcher and teammate. He played for Wesley United Methodist Church on the city church league with several winning seasons and played along side his two sons, James & Richard, and brother, Franklin. He later went on to play on a co-ed team with is daughter, Rebecca, and later was active with the Senior Softball Association. Forrest was also an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church by serving on various committees from being Chair of Finance to being a member of Trustees, volunteering for the Pumpkin Patch and Church Workdays and, with great pleasure & dedication, participated in several of Wesley UMC church plays. Forrest will always be remembered for his easy going nature and great personality. He had a wonderful sense of humor and an amazing attitude towards life. He tried to find the positive in every situation. His faith was strong and many admired him. He is preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Gordon W. Voelkel and granddaughter, Allison N. Hope. Forrest is survived by: his wife, Sondra Voelkel; sons, James Voelkel and Richard Voelkel (Marisol); daughter, Rebecca Hope (William); grandchildren, Jordan, Megan, Avery, Charlie, Amanda and Forrest; brothers Jimmy Voelkel and Franklin Voelkel; sister, Shirley Audilet; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Obituary: Eugene was born on a farm outside of Rutersville, Texas to Ruby and Leon Voelkel. He grew up active in 4H and FFA. He told wonderful stories about growing up in a rural central Texas German community. He spoke German at home as was the custom and retained fluency throughout his life. He went to high school in LaGrange then worked his way through Texas A&M on the university hog farm. It was while he was there that he met Jane Ross who was attending Texas Womens University. were married on New Years Eve in 1957. Eugene graduated in 1957, and was commissioned in the Army. He served two tours in Vietnam. The family moved, always making sure to explore the local histories and cultures. lived in Germany for two tours. had three children, Claudette, Robert Scott and Janet. He retired from the Army after 23 years. He returned to his beloved Aggieland, and he worked another 18 years at the physical plant before retiring again. Eugene was an avid genealogist who introduced the Texas Voelkels to the descendants of the Voelkels who stayed in Germany. He arranged several pilgrimages back to Erntebruck with Texas descendants. He led both the Schulze and Voelkel annual family reunions for many years. He was a long-standing member of the Bryan Breakfast Lions Club and took active roles in their annual rodeo. He was a member of the 12th man, and Sojourners. Also, he was an active member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Bryan. His parents Leon and Ruby, and his son, Scott, preceded Eugene in death. He is survived by his wife, Jane; his sister, Emogene Boehm; his daughter and son-in-law, Claudette and Dan Fette; his daughter, Janet Voelkel; his grandsons, Aaron Gabriel and wife Molly, and Ben Fette; and great-grandson, Scott Bennett. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. , 5, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church in Bryan with Rev Ted Foote officiating. An inurnment will held at 11:00 am at Rutersville . |

Obituary: Lorene Ave Voelcker was born 28, 1906 and departed this life on , 6, 2007. She was a native of Leon Springs, Texas, the widow of the late Louis C. Voelcker, Jr. and a long time member of Beacon Hill Presbyterian Church and of Leon Springs Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Ann Abel and husband, Richard F. of Virginia; a son, Louis L. Voelcker and wife, E. of Boerne; five grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a niece, Betty Aue and nephew Rudy Aue III, both of Leon Spring, Texas. Visitation will be , 10th from 7:00 P. M. to 8:00 P.M. at Porter Loring on McCullough. Henry was born on 25, 1933 to Henry Sr. and Mena Kappelmann, also of New Braunfels. returning from Military Service, Henry married Bettie Sue (Norris) Voelcker who preceded him in death. were married for 46 years. had two daughters, Rosalie Voelcker Maples, who also preceded him in death and Cheryl Lynn Voelcker of New Braunfels. Henry was a wonderful husband and father. His many interests included hunting, fishing, and HAM Radio Operator. He spent many hours talking to people all over the world. To those HAMs he is now a Silent Key. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. No services will be held as per Henrys request. |
