Obituary: RC 'Bob' Vaughan, aged 85, of Levelland, Texas was called to his heavenly home on , 8, 2015 while under the care of Hospice and both the Levelland and the Beehive Assisted Living s. A long time resident of Levelland, he was born in Lueders, Texas on 4, 1930. He spent his early years in Jones , Texas. Bob graduated from Lueders High School and later attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene. He married the love of his life Eva A. Barnes on 11, 1948 in Levelland. Bob owned and operated RC Vaughan Oil , a Gulf/Chevron Distributorship for more than 30 years. Bob was first and foremost a Christian. He served his Lord as an active charter member of both Morning Side Baptist and Second Baptist Church in Levelland, where he served as a deacon in both congregations and participated in the Men's Brotherhood. During the 1960's, Bob served his community by being a three term City of Levelland Councilman and later a two term Mayor. He enjoyed becoming a pilot of his own aircraft. He enjoyed playing golf and upon retirement spent many hours fishing on various lakes throughout the state of Texas. Bob was preceded death by his wife of 61 years, Eva; his beloved parents, Norman Carroll and Beulah Reynolds Vaughan, his older brother, William Vaughan, his younger sister, Linda McGough, a daughter-in-law, Tammy Skipworth Vaughan and a son-in-law Charles Brad Frye. He is survived by his brother Donald R. Vaughan and his wife Sarah of Lubbock; one son, Robert Carroll Vaughan Jr. and his wife Sharon of Levelland; daughters Shirley Dennis and her husband Ronald of Abilene and Donna Frye of Kingwood, Texas. He was blessed with eight grandchildren Michael Vaughan, Dusty Dennis, Johnna Bissett, Chris Vaughan, Robert Frye, Tamara Riley, Brock Frye and Tara Dudley, as well as, 15 great-grandchildren Meacheala Bissett, Justin Bissett, Andy Vaughan, Leilani Sanchez, Brody Vaughan, Julian Sanchez, Peylin Dennis, Danica Sanchez, Anistyn Dennis, Merrick Frye, Kendyll Dudley, Bill Riley, Luke Dennis, Major Frye and Layton Dudley and two future great-grandsons due in 2016, and many nieces and nephews. Bob's funeral will be held on , 10, 2015, at 10:00 am in the sanctuary of Second Baptist Church in Levelland with burial in the City of Levelland . The family suggest memorial donations be made to Second Baptist Church in Levelland or to your favorite charity in his memory. |

He retired from a career with ALCOA in 1979 and began a second career in real estate in San Antonio, most recently with King Realtors. Obituary: VAUGHAN Phyllis Louis Vaughan entered eternal rest 19, 2014. Born in Columbia SC, Sept. 25, 1926, to Carlton J. and Marie E. Louis, she moved with her parents as a toddler to Towson, MD, a suburb of Baltimore which was home to both her parents and grandparents. She attended the University of Maryland and graduated from Simmons in Boston, MA. While at Simmons she met her husband of 63 years, Curtis T. Vaughan, Jr., who was getting his MBA from Harvard Business School. Phyllis was a gracious lady, doing for others but always trying to deflect the credit. She was always there to support her husband and their four sons, and later, her daughters-in-law and ten grandchildren. She was an exceptional community volunteer as well. She served the Junior League of San Antonio in various offices, finally serving as President in 1965-66. She continued to serve the JLSA in an advisory capacity for many years as a sustaining member. For 12 years she was on the board of the Family Services Association, becoming President in 1971. Phyllis was an active worker for the United Way, serving from 1987-1990 as Chair of the Childrens Services allocation committee. She was an active member of the Charity Ball Association, serving that organization as Treasurer, President, and Chair among other offices. She was active for many years in the Battle of Flowers association and was responsible for several years for their oratorical contest. In recognition of her outstanding community contributions, she was named by the Junior League of San Antonio as their Volunteer Extraordinaire for the 1992-93 year. Phyllis was an avid tennis player who continued to play twice a week with her regular group until about three years ago. She was a gardener and long-time member of the Alamo Heights - Terrell Hills Garden Club which organization she served as President in 1980. She was a good card player and enjoyed playing games of all sorts especially with her family. As a hostess, Phyllis was at her best - whether entertaining at home or at the lake house. Phyllis & Curtiss Christmas parties, always on the 23rd of , for family and in-laws will be lovingly remembered. Most weekends were spent at the lake where she enjoyed having family and friends, playing tennis, swimming, sailing and water skiing. Phyllis and Curtis traveled the world, an activity which they loved, mostly with friends Bill and Peggy Trieschmann, Houston and Carolyn Harte, and Bill and Carolyn Franke. While their sons were little they made family trips every summer. For their 50th anniversary they took all their sons, daughters-in law and grandchildren for a Caribbean Cruise. loved it so much they took another family cruise two years later. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Curtis, her sister Mary Jane Hopkins, sons - Curtis III and wife Karen, Robert and wife Melissa, George and wife Claire, and Richard and wife Donna, grandchildren -- George, Gus and wife Erin, Morgan, Hayley, Rick, Torrey, Curtis IV, Avery, Ellery, and Melanie Vaughan, and nephew Brian Hopkins and wife Deniece. Special thanks are extended to her house keeper and friend Griselda Gutierrez and also her good friends Curt and Jill Stewmon, all of whom have given exceptionally in the last period of her life. Obituary: NEWAL J. VAUGHAN passed away , 5, 2010. He was born on 31, 1921 to the late Brooks and Gladys Vaughan in Camden, Arkansas. Newal was listed in WHOS WHO IN AMERICA. He attended LA State University from 1938-40; obtained a B.B.A. at University of Houston in 1953; postgraduate in 1953-54; was an Administrator for Community Hospital of Brazosport in Freeport, Texas 1953-65; associate administrator for Harris Hospital District in Houston from 1966-1969, became the administrator 1969- 1976. Newal attained the rank of Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is now reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife of 63 years, 4 months, and 7 days, Lula L.V. Vaughan. Newal is survived by his sister, Ruth Denson; nieces, Donna Denson, Vicki Moran and husband Ronny, and Minnie Simmons and husband Rodney; nephew, Carl Norman Hester; his current caregivers, Vicki Burgess, Mary Kennedy, Catherine Okepara, Darlene Rodgers, and Monica Williams; retired caregivers, Naomi Stewart, Elsie Head, and Shelley Williams; his close friend and associate, Dan Guckenheimer.
