Obituary: J.W. Vance Jr., 78, passed away on 15, 2015. J.W. was born on 10, 1937 in Hamlin, TX to J.W. and Alene Vance (Robinson). J.W. loved being outside whether it was gardening in his vegetable garden, fishing, or camping with friends and family. He was a member of the United State Air Force from 1955-1964. He was a long time member of the Eastside Church of Christ. In his later years, J.W. liked to embroider and even embroidered blankets for his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Carter; and sister, Betty Kowske. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Melba Vance; children, Thomas Vance (Karen), Jeffery Vance, Susan Estell (Jeff), Michael Vance, Rick Carter (Laura), Gary Carter (Sondra), and Alan Carter; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Willene Vance; 5 nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins. A visitation will be held, and 18-19, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00-8:00 . A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., , 20, 2015 at Eastside Church of Christ with interment to follow, at 1:00 p.m. at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas, TX. |

Obituary: Billy Don Vance, 7l, passed away 12/3/09, in OKC, OK. He was born in Cogar, OK on 5/3/38. Billy was a graduate of NW Classen High School in 1956 and furthered his education at OSU. He was a loving husband to his wife, Mary Ann Vance of 51 years, during which they had 3 children: daughter, Toni Moore & husband Vincent; son, Doni Vance; and daughter Joni Enockson & husband Dan. He had 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, 3 great-nephews and 1 great-niece. He is also survived by his mother, Charleen Wise; sister, Rowena; brother-in-law Sam Davidson; and many other family members and friends. Billy worked at LeeWay Motor Freight for 28 years and spent 30 years of his life as a highly skilled machinist with his co-worker and friend Eddie Robbins. He also spent every night at the State Fair Speedway enjoying the races as well as sponsoring many drivers. He loved to go bowling at 66 Bowl on nights. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Vance and brother, Charles Robert. A viewing will be held , 12/6/09 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. for friends and family, at Memorial Park . Obituary: A.A. Bud Vance Jr., 88, of Norman died in the comfort of his home on 19th, 2017. Following internment in Norman IOOF , services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at NorthHaven Church in Norman on 22nd, 2017. For more information on the services, please visit www.primrosefuneralservice.com Bud was born on 4th, 1928 in Chunky, Mississippi to Alonzo and Mary Vance. He earned his Bachelors Degree from Mississippi State University. He served his country for 22 years as a pilot in the United States Air Force. He flew in the Korean and Vietnam wars and retired after 22 years. Among his medals were the Distinguished Flying Cross. retiring from the Air Force Bud and his wife Dee moved to Norman Oklahoma where he worked for and eventually owned and ran Broce Construction and Broce Manufacturing Co. Buds faith was important throughout his life. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church and a founding member of North Haven Baptist Church. He also helped to begin Bible Study Fellowship in Norman. Bud was a deeply kind man who possessed a profound, bottomless generosity. His giving, warm spirit was evident in everything he did. Bud could not leave the house without making a friend or two. A beloved regular at his local coffee shop, he spent many afternoons talking with old or new friends over a Bud-a-ccino. He took genuine interest in every single person he met, a testament to a soul that truly placed no limits on how much kindness it offered that world, making community everywhere he went. Bud was loved deeply and looked up to by his entire family for his wisdom, his caring spirit, and his wit. He was an avid reader of history and could tell you the tale of any U.S. battle with impressive detail and contagious curiosity. He was a gracious host and made a mean martini. A proud OU fan, he had an immense love for his town of Norman, Oklahoma. Bud took great pride in his children and grandchildren; his dedication to making sure that all eight of his grandchildren could pursue their biggest dreams is an incredible, enduring gift. Mr. Vance is survived by his two sons, Steve Vance and Alan and his wife Julie Vance; one daughter, Teri and her husband Mike Hubbeling; and eight grandchildren, Austin Vance, Ethan Vance, Harper Hubbeling, Tess Hubbeling, Jessi Vance, Luke and his wife Debbie Vance, Peter Vance and Nathaniel Vance. He is also survived by his sister Georgia OLeary and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dee Vance, his parents, his sister Myra Welch, and cousin (like a sister to him) Miriam Kastla.
