Obituary: Louis William Vondette passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on 24, 2016 at the age of 81. He was born on 1, 1934 in Detroit; son of Louis and Ella (nee Deutschel) Vondette. Mr. Vondette proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Shortly after his discharge, Louis went on a blind date with Leone Miller. Two years later on 13, 1959, Louis married Leone at Charity Lutheran Church on Detroits east side. lived in Detroit for a few years and eventually moved to Eastpointe where they raised their family. Louis worked for Chrysler for over 40 years, retiring in 1996. A year after retirement Louis and Leone built their dream home in Gaylord. Mr. Vondette was very handy and could fix anything. He loved hockey; playing into his 40s. He loved hockey so much that every winter he would build a rink in the back yard for his children. Louis had a wonderful sense of humor and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He will truly be missed by everyone that knew him. He leaves behind his loving wife Leone. He was proud of his son Louis II (Linda), and daughter Lorraine. He adored his grandchildren Devin and Jacob Vitale, and Rose and Bill Zack. He leaves behind his great-grandchildren Rachel, Robin, and Roshelle; and his sister Carol Wunderlich. Visitation will be held on from 2:00 until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters , 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Mr. Vondettes funeral will be held on at 10:00 am at the funeral. Interment will be held on at 10:30 am at Great Lakes National in Holly, Michigan will military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1354 S. Otsego Ave, Gaylord, MI 49735, or to Residential Hospice, 250 Monroe Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. |

Obituary: Raymond L. Ray Vonck, Jr., 85, of Marquette, died peacefully morning, 25, 2015 at U.P. System-Marquette surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born on 14, 1930 in Marquette to the late Ray A. and Fannie (Halso) Vonck. He was a 1948 graduate of Graveraet High School and also attended Northern Michigan University. Ray owned and operated Dresseler & Sons Plumbing and Heating for almost 40 years carrying on the tradition started by his grandfather, Charlie Dresseler, in 1925. The company grew into what is now known as Dresseler Mechanical, Inc. The company, now in its fourth generation of continuous ownership, is currently operated by his children and grandchildren. Ray mentored many future tradesmen over his 40 year career. He served on various committees of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local #414 and was a past president of the Marquette Builders Exchange. He was a former member of both St. Michael Catholic Church and St. Peter Cathedral. He served on many committees including the building committee for the construction of St. Michael Catholic Church. He served on the Roman Catholic Diocesan Building Committee and was a former board member of the Marquette Catholic Credit Union. He was a charter member of the Serra Club for the Diocese of Marquette. He was active in the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at St. Peter Cathedral and was also a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. Ray was a lifelong citizen of Marquette and was very active in the community. He was a past president of the Marquette Golf Club where he was named honorary lifetime member in 2010 and is also a past Exalted Ruler of Marquette Elks Lodge #405. He was a charter member of the NMU Presidents Club, belonged to the NMU Golden Wildcat Club and both he and his late wife, Elinor, were members of the Cotillion Club. Ray was an avid sports fan, and loved playing golf, bowling and pitching fast pitch softball. Survivors include 6 children, Pamela (Daniel) Carl of Richland, WA, Randy (Beth) Vonck of Ypsilanti, MI, Michael Mick (Judy) Vonck of Marquette, Ray (Mary) Vonck of Ada, MI, Deacon Warren (Lezle) Vonck of Marquette and Paul Vonck of Nashua, NH and 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren as well as 2 expected great grandchildren. Ray is also survived by his late second wife, Ann Chapman-Voncks 5 children, Debra (Russ) Fure and Sandy (Jim Tarsi) Chapman, both of Marquette, Tim (Toni) Chapman of Batavia, IL, Shel Chapman (Eugenia Woods) of Tucson, AZ and Joe (Marta) Chapman of Montana City, MT as well as their 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Preceding Ray in death besides his parents was his first wife, Elinor Vonck on 26, 1992, his second wife, Ann Chapman-Vonck on 8, 2014 and a sister, Shirley Stoll. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on , 30th at 12 Noon in St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey with the Rev. Glenn Theoret officiating and Deacon Scott Jamieson assisting. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Rays children will act as his escorts and his brothers-in-law, Elmer Hildenbrand and Robert Lawrence will serve as honorary bearers. Knights and Ladies of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem will also be in attendance. Burial will take place in the Park . In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Bay Cliff Camp/New Recreation , PO Box 310, Big Bay, MI 49808 in Mr. Voncks memory. Ray, over the last years, was a faithful, loving and compassionate caregiver to his late wife, Ann Chapman-Vonck. He once told his daughter, God always comes first in your life, then your spouse, your children and from there, you can go out into the community.
