Obituary: Santina, Sandy Valenti passed away on 4, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at Mt. Carmel at the age of 96. She was born in Pittsfield, MA on 22, 1920, daughter of the late Vincenzo Campagna and Josephine Mauro Campagna. Sandy was a graduate of the Pittsfield High School Class of 1939. Santina married the love of her life, Dario (Red) Valenti on 24, 1942. were married for 74 wonderful years. Sandy and Red enjoyed a beautiful life together, sharing special times and creating a lifetime of precious memories. Red passed away on 11, 2016 with his devoted wife by his side. Sandy was employed by the General Electric Ordnance Department within the assembler and wiring division for 20 years, retiring in 1983. Sandy and Red enjoyed wonderful vacations with friends, traveling to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Europe; as well as frequent visits to out-of-town brothers and sisters. Bringing her the most joy and happiness was simply spending time with loved ones. Most important, were summer vacations at the Jersey Shore with her children and grandchildren. Santina was a wonderful mother to her son Richard Valenti and his wife Bonnie, daughter Sandra Valenti Messina, and her husband Charlie. In addition, she was blessed with wonderful loving and adoring grandchildren. Her grandson Jason Valenti, and his wife Kara, and her granddaughter Jennifer Messina Jeskey, and her husband Adam. Ever so special to her were her great grandson Kyle Valenti, and great granddaughters Parker Messina Jeskey, and Sydney Messina Jeskey. Santina is survived by one sister, Helen Alberti and her husband Charles of Salt Lake City, Utah, and three brothers, James Campagna and Robert Campagna and his wife Antoinette of Pittsfield, and Alfred Campagna and his wife Eileen of Atlanta, Georgia, as well as a sister-in-law; Esther Campagna of Pittsfield, and brother-in-law; Carl E. Slater of Pittsfield and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother Ernest Campagna, and three sisters, Concetta Kellar, Agnes Bilia, Laura Slater, and Mary Slater. She held wonderful and special memories of all her brothers and sisters. Family life was always of the utmost importance to Sandy. Sharing the holidays and creating special occasion family dinners, while preparing everyones favorites, along with her wonderful pies for dessert. Her dining room table would be set days ahead using all of her special dishes.. it had to be just right, family was coming, and it always was! Of course she always made sure she had cooked extra for her grandchildren Jason and Jennifer to take back to college. She took such great care of us, this made her so happy, and she did it so very well. Her message was simple, family is everything, and everything is my family. Remarkable words to live by. How fortunate we have been to have our Dear Mother Santina in our lives for so long, sharing her wisdom, guidance, love, and most importantly the meaning of family. This is a treasure, and a gift, we will hold forever in our hearts and souls. We will always love you and cherish wonderful memories of a lifetime. There was always something taking place with family…birthdays, anniversaries, first communions, confirmations, graduations, showers, weddings, and births. Sandy and Red were able to witness all of these wonderful events for their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. This is how they would wish to be remembered. Sandy and Red were always together cooking, working, around their home or just being together and always holding hands. We want to extend our gratitude to all of Santinas home caregivers, Debby, Linda, and Donna for their wonderful dedication, care, and keeping her so comfortable. We wish to offer a very special thank you and sincere gratitude to all the staff at Mt. Carmel ; especially the staff members of St. Lukes wing.
