Obituary: Nolan Vincent Lake Charles- Nolan Vincent, 82, passed away on 17, 2014, in comfort of family, in a local hospital. Born on 10, 1931 in Kaplan, LA to parents Sidney and Elina Vincent, Nolan was the youngest of four children, Huey, Lloyd and Emma Lou Vincent (Robertson). He married his high school sweetheart Lorena Bourque in 1951 and together had four children, Larry, Elina Vincent (Gott), Gaynell and Katherine. He married Jeanelle Bertrand in 1979. He was a grandfather to seven grandchildren, six step grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one step great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; Sidney Vincent, Elina Darby Vincent, 1 grandson; Jason Brady Foreman, 1 Step-son; Ricky Dupois, 2 brothers; Huey P. and Lloyd Vincent Before full retirement, Nolan spent his life's work in the oil field industries for major companies including Phillips 66, Shell Oil , LA Tank, Central Crude and Jordan Oil. Visitation will be held , 20,2014 at Hixson's in Lake Charles between the hours of 5pm-9pm. service will be 11am , 21, 2014, and will be held at Kaplan Baptist Church (formally Nunez Baptist Church) where he accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of twelve. Obituary: Melba Vincent, 65, died at 12:38 p.m. , 13, 2011, in a local Hospital She was a native of Edgerly and attended Antioch Baptist Church. She was a good mother, wife and grandmother. Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years Steve Vincent of Edgerly; children, Melissa "Cricket" Kegley and her husband Shelton, of Sulphur; Danny Vincent and his wife Sandra, of Sulphur, Mike Vincent and his wife Marilyn, of Sulphur, Calvin Vincent, of Edgerly, and Shelda Vincent, of Edgerly; brothers Chester Whatley, Ernie Dell Whatley, and Lester "Peanut" Whatley; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchidren. She is preceded in death by her mother Irene Picard Whatley, her great grandson Shawn Isaac Van, and brother William Hampton Whatley. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. , 16, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial . Lillian Vincent, a retired nurse and resident of Denham Springs, passed away at her daughters home on , 29, 2016. She was 92, born 11, 1923 in Clinton, LA. She grew up on a farm where her hardworking family raised animals and vegetables for food. Lillian, her four sisters and five brothers, helped out on the farm as much a possible while attending school. During high school, Lillian worked nights as a telephone operator on a large switchboard. She graduated valedictorian in 1941 from Julius Frehan High School in St. Francisville at the age of 17. Throughout high school she always dreamed of becoming a nurse after graduation. The same year that she graduated, the United States entered World War II. The militarys needs quickly brought on a nursing shortage. Lillian found out that the government was going to fund the education for womens training to become skilled nurses through grants. While waiting for the government to pay for her training, she moved to New Orleans to work in an Army garment factory making pants for the Army soldiers overseas. Finally in 1943, Congress authorized the Cadet Nurse Corps. The Corps offered scholarships for tuition and fees, stipends, and uniforms to women who went to nursing school and committed to serve in the nursing profession for the duration of the war. She was accepted into the Army Cadet Nurses program and began her training at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in of 1943 and graduated at the top of her class in 1946. Just when she finished her training, the war ended and she didn have to serve overseas. Lillian then began her successful career as a registered nurse working at hospitals in Baton Rouge. She worked as a registered nurse for 50 years before retiring, proudly knowing that she helped so many people in need. Lillian was so loved by her family and all that knew her. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Hughes, D. S.; son, Sam Vincent and wife Betsy, Bonita Springs, Fla.; sister, Helen Moore, D.S.; Grandsons, Joe M. Hughes, Troy Vincent, Scott Vincent, and Brian Vincent. Granddaughter, Lisa M. Loustalot and husband Sean; Great-granddaughters, Carlea Loustalot, Sabrina Hughes, and Megan Vincent. Great-grandsons, Colton Loustalot, Joel Hughes, Jack Vincent, and Casey Vincent. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Mary Miller; brothers, W.B. Miller; J. E. Miller; R. D. Miller; L. D. Miller; A.D. Miller; and J. D. Miller. Sisters, Alice Gertrude Jackson; Jodie Scroggs; and Philona Magee. Visitation will be at Hebron Baptist Church, 24063 LA Hwy 16, Denham Springs on 2, 2016 from 9 am until services at 2 pm. Graveside services will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park in Baton Rouge. Pallbearers will be Joe Hughes, Troy Vincent, Brian Vincent, Sean Loustalot, Joel Hughes and Colton Loustalot. Honorary pallbearers will be Carlea Loustalot and Sabrina Hughes.
