Obituary: Xavier L. Verdin passed away peacefully on , 20, 2017 at the age of 82. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that he had touched in some way throughout his life. He was the beloved brother of Ed Verdin, Emelia Cheramie, Imelda Vetra, Irvin Verdin, Leona Rhodes and the late Herbert Verdin. Son of the late Toussaint and Armantine Billiot Verdin. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Xavier was born in Terrebonne Parish and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Gretna, LA. He enjoyed working and caring for St. Bernard Catholic , along with enjoying the simple pleasures throughout his life and caring deeply for those around him. He was well loved and will be deeply missed by us all. The family of Xavier wishes to thank Bayside care for their care and compassion. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Tousant Verdin and Betty Pizzalato Verdin; his God-father, Randolph Verdin; his God-mother, Mary Ann Severns; his God-son, Lawrence Buddy Verdin, Jr. In his younger years, Joey was a commercial fisherman, who, in his free time, competed in body building and volunteered as a coach for his childrens sporting activities at Rosethorne Playground. Later, he took pride in his employment as a structural fitter in the ship building industry. He loved to deer hunt on his property in Tylertown, MS, loved the great outdoors, cooking and eating wild game, eating out, taking trips with his wife, spending time with his children and grand-daughter, hanging out with family and friends, had a passion for sports and weight lifting. Joey loved Christmas and would start his annual tradition in , by listening to Christmas music and using his Christmas mug, not retiring it till Christmas day. Joey was a gentle, kind, generous and intelligent man. He told stories of his youth and also of his childrens youth to anyone who listened. His sense of humor and love of life will be greatly missed by those who had the pleasure to know him. He was an amazing man and we thank him for sharing his life with us. Obituary: Armantine Marie Billiot Verdin passed away peacefully at home on , 18, 2016 at the age of 101. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her very memorable life. She was the cherished wife of the late Toussaint T. Verdin. Loving mother of Xavier Verdin, Ed Verdin, Emelia Cheramie, Imelda Vetra, Irvin Verdin, Leona Rhoades and the late Herbert Verdin. Daughter of the late Lovency and Ernestine Billiot. Sister of Aggie Guillie, Theresa Williams and Catherine Pontiff. Proud grandmother of Marc, Troy, Mike, Chris, Dawn, Ben, Karen, Scott, Cindy, Kenneth, Sean, James, Nathalie and Monique. She is also survived and fondly remembered by her 35 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Armantine was a native of Lafourche Parish and a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish where she was a faithful member of the Altar Society of St. Bernard Catholic Church and was a two time recipient of the Order of St. Louis Medallion. She was well loved and will be deeply missed by us all. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST.
