Obituary: Donna Fern (Christo) Vandemark was born 8, 1942, to Donald and Ila (Peterson) Christo in Logan, Iowa. She was raised in Logan and attended the Logan school obtaining her GED. On 10, 1958, Donna married Tommy Vandemark in Logan. The couple lived in Woodbine and then moved to Battle Creek and in 1965 they moved to Missouri Valley. In 1967 Donna completed her GED and started working at various places including: World Insurance, SnoCo Mfg., First Data Resources and finally UNMC. She retired from UNMC in 2013. Donna was a 4-H leader for 40 years and she still helped at the Harrison Fair. She was the best grandma. She enjoyed cooking and making everyones favorite foods. She raised 5-Star La Mancha Dairy Goats. She loved to sew, knit, crochet and bake ~ decorating many wedding cakes. She also played the piano. her retirement she was active with the Harrison Genealogical Society and served as the vice-president. She also served on the Western Iowa Pioneer Assoc. Donna died on , 11, 2017, at her home near Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 74 years, six months, and three days. Donna was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Charlie Vandemark. She is survived by her husband, Tommy Vandemark of Missouri Valley, Iowa; three daughters, Jeanne (Larry) Engel of Pleasant Dale, Nebraska, Karen (Jon) Alexander of au, Wisconsin, Diane (John) Abild of Atlantic, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five siblings, Jerry (Andrea) Christo of Omaha, Nebraska, Tommy Christo and Boone (Sara) Christo all of Logan, Iowa, Penny (Jon) Kill of Kansas City, Kansas, Betsy (Jim) Kill of Magnolia, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. |

Obituary: Dinah Kay (Brower) Vandemark was born 7, 1956, to Russell and Mary (Barker) Brower in St. Joseph, Missouri. She was raised in the St. Joseph area and graduated from Central High School in 1974. Following her graduation she worked for St. Joseph Woods. Dinah married Mark Vandemark on 25, 1978. The couple lived in Des Moines, Iowa and Kearney and Blair, Nebraska before settling in Logan, Iowa. She worked at the Good Samaritan s, Pamida, No Frills, ran a day care, Harveys Fine Foods in the Deli Department, and Mosaic in Logan. Throughout all of these jobs she always had additional jobs of housekeeping, catering and face painting. Dinah was a very talented and crafty woman using her talents in the food service. She collected pop tabs to buy wheelchairs for Shrine Hospital patients and would always be at the Shrine Circus to paint faces. She loved being a Shrine Lady. She belonged to the Tangier Shrine Provost Ladies group and was on their pistol team, she was also a member of the Shrine Staffettes. She was a 25 year member of the Valley chapter of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Piecemaker Quilt Guild and the coordinator for the Aktion Club. Dinah died on , 22, 2015, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 59 years and 15 days. Dinah was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Charlie Vandemark. Dinah is survived by her husband, Mark Vandemark of Logan, Iowa; two children, Russell Vandemark and Liddy Campbell of Chestertown, Maryland and Amy Vandemark and Derek Bucy of Missouri Valley, Iowa; six grand-children; twin brother, Danny Brower and sister, Linda and her husband Carl Collet all of Rolla, Missouri; mother-in-law, Grace and her husband John Shafer of Missouri Valley, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. |
