Obituary: Delores was born the daughter of Elston and Olive Cantrell on 11, 1937. She became the oldest of ten children. Delores died at the age of 77 on 25, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones at a local care facility. She battled several terminal illnesses including, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, and leukemia. A viewing will be held on 29, 2015, from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM at Cloverdale Chapel. Followed by the funeral services at 9:00. She will be laid to rest at Cloverdale . There will be a reception following the service at the Cloverdale Reception Hall. Lunch will be served. Delores spent her childhood attending various schools around the Treasure Valley. She met and married Ray Montgomery and had daughter Donna and son Donald. For several years in the 1950s, she lived and worked as a telephone operator in her favorite city by the bay - San Francisco, California. She rode the cable cars to work on Telegraph Hill. Even during the end stages of her life she talked of the fond memories she had of San Francisco. When Delores returned to Idaho, she met and married Ken Vickers in 1960 and went on to have son Tony in 1961 and daughter Andrea in 1963. Ken and Delores settled in Mountain , Idaho. Delores worked as a civil service telephone operator at Mountain Air force Base for several years. There she worked beside and trained service personnel. She enjoyed her years at the Base and made several lifelong friends. When working the graveyard shift she would keep herself awake by doing some of her hobbies like macramé and painting ceramics. Delores was an avid traveler. Her and her husband would visit their children across the country and had many great experiences that they loved to share with people. Delores was a devoted grandmother and great grandmother. All her grandchildren have their stories of the special visits they had with her and Grandpa. Delores was proceeded in death, by her loving husband of almost 55 years, this past . Delores is survived by her 4 children, 2 children in laws, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 5 brothers, 4 sister in laws, 3 sisters and 2 brother in laws and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that all love and miss her dearly. A special thank you from the family to XL Hospice; especially her nurse, Christina, for all their help and support through this difficult time. We sincerely thank all the fabulous staff at Grace Memory that gave our Mom such wonderful care. The family ask, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Idaho Food Bank or Simply Cats (cat shelter) in her honor. |
