Obituary: PFC Dakota Carrington Crider, USA, born 15, 1986, in Clovis, New Mexico, unexpectedly passed away 10, 2008, in Lansing, Michigan at the age of 22. He was a 2004 graduate of Crockett High School in Austin, Texas. In 2006, Dakota enlisted in the US Army and was assigned to the B, 3rd Battalion, 320th Artillery Field, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Obituary: Lt.Col. Dale E. Sherrod, USA (Ret.), passed away on , 12, 2012 after fighting a long, courageous battle with cancer and COPD. He was born 17, 1934 in Odessa, Texas to the late William Elmer and Elizabeth Elaine Sherrod. He was predeceased by his brothers: George, Richard, David and Bobby; and sisters, Esther Lea, Mary and Johnnie. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dian Bateman Sherrod; daughter, Angela Sherrod Tipton; two grandchildren, Georgia and Anna Beth Tipton of San Antonio; and his brother, William Sherrod of Springtown, Texas. Dale played football in Odessa High School and for Oklahoma University, and continued to enjoy it as a spectator sport all his life. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army after college and was an Army aviator during the Vietnam era. In 1983, he retired from the Army. When Dale was healthy, he enjoyed playing golf with his friends ~ he will be missed by all who knew him. SERVICE

Obituary: Johnny Arenas, 60, went home to be with Lord and Savior on , 12 in Dallas.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. , 19 at the V.F.W. Post 4962, 794 North Harvey Mitchell Parkway in Bryan.

Johnny was born 11, 1955 in Bryan the son of Dionisio and Frances (Duran) Arenas. He began his career in the U.S. Army in 1976, and retired after 22 years of service as Sergeant 1st Class. his military service, he worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in the Parole Division as a unit supervisor in Denton until his death.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rufus Arenas; sisters, Lupe Sanchez and Rosa Rivera; and a grandson, David Orosco III.

He is survived by his children, Adrian Arenas of Bryan, Tasha Arenas of Station, Alexia Arenas of Dallas, Niko Arenas of San Antonio; step-sons, Aqui and Taso Vassilopanagos of Fayetteville, NC; brothers, Viscente Arenas and Paublino Pelon Arenas both of Bryan; sisters, Mary Ramirez and husband Lupe of Dangerfield, Asencion Sanchez and Sylvia Arenas both of Bryan; grandchildren, Peyton, Kabrian, Madyx, Trayse and Jerimiah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on , 6 at 10:00 AM at Fort Sam Houston National . Frank was born on 24, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York. He was a veteran of 20 years which included service with Airborne Forces in Korea, Germany and Vietnam. Frank and his wife Carol believed in serving their community. He was a dedicated member of the Fort Sam Houston Optimist Club and volunteered at a number of locations including the San Antonio OASIS, McNay Art Gallery, Harp and Shamrock Society of Texas, Warm Springs Hospital, Brooke Army Medical , the Texas Department of Transportation, the Agape, and the Southwest Society on Aging. Frank and his wife Carol spent much of their social time at the Petroleum Club. served as ambassadors for the club, and Frank served on the board of directors for three years. enjoyed meeting friends at the club and appreciated all the fine efforts of the staff that made the club such a special place. Frank was an extremely devoted husband, father, and grandfather and a true friend who will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Rose Adamo of Brooklyn, New York and his brother, Joe Adamo of Long Island, New York. Obituary: SFC Doris L. Stoltenburg, USA (ret), was born in Dempseytown, PA to Harry G. & Freida C. (Uhlott) Stoltenburg and passed away on 24, 2011 in San Antonio, TX. She grew up in Oil City, PA, graduating in the class of 1953. She served 21 years in the United States Army. She was one of the first enlisted women to serve in Korea, where she served as First Sergeant in charge of all the enlisted women there. Doris was the first woman to become a Cardiac-Cath lab technician. She served 9 years at Walter Reed Hospital, where she played on a basketball team, as well as being stationed at Ft. Monroe, VA and Ft, Sam Houston, where she retired. She was an instructor of the EKG program at the Academy of Sciences, and wrote the manual for that course. she retired, she worked for a Cardiologist for 2 years in San Antonio.Her first tour at Ft. Sam, she worked for Brigadier General Andre Ognibene, when he was Chief of Cardiology at BAMC. She graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University. Everyone knew her for her cheerful demeanor and good humor. She had a very generous heart and was up for adventure. Everyone knew what a hard worker she was. From 1989-1993, she taught religious education classes at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. wards, she became the Elementary CCD coordinator and held that position for 16 years. She was very passionate about working with the children, and even though she struggled with her illness, her responsibilities to the church and the children kept her going. One of her many responsibilities was organizing the second grade CCD class for the sacrament of Holy Communion on the second of every May. When children would be baptized into the church, Doris would always be willing to stand in as a sponsor if they didn have anyone else, and in this way she grew to have many godchildren, She assisted in teaching RCIA class at St. John Neumann RCC. Other church responsibilities she took on included lay ministry at local nursing homes, she was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, a ,member of the Divine Mercy Cenacle, Emmaus Bible Study, a eucharistic minister at the altar. She volunteered at the Diabetic Nutrition Clinic at BAMC for more than 1000 hours.
She traveled all around the United States and loved to vacation at a cabin in West Virginia where she would spend time in the woods and enjoy the scenery of the Smokey Mountains.
She supported and cared for her friend Joan Morelli, when she was dying of cancer in 1987.
Diana met Doris in 1964 at Walter Reed, and they were reunited at Ft. Sam Houston in 1972. The two friends did many things together and supported one another in good times and sad times. were often thought of as sisters.
Since 1998, Doris had been struggling with various cancers. She overcame breast cancer, colon cancer, and lymphoma. She struggled with MDS until her death.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Glenn, Walter, Fredrick, Earl, Karl, Lois and 4 month old, Henry. She is survived by her brother, Harry in Oil City, PA , nieces, Carolyn Bahr, Joyce Davey, Nancy Marshment and numerous other nieces and nephews. Besides all the children Doris looked after in CCD which she thought of as "her children", she is survived by several adopted grandchildren, including Matthew & Orlando Contereas and Krisen, Caryn & Bryan Richter. Doris was especially fond of her nieces, Joyce Davey of AZ and Caroline Bahr of Ohio, who both felt Doris was like an older sister to them. The family would like to thank the Hematology/Oncology Clinic Doctors and Nurses at BAMC. A Special thanks to Dr. Dacus for her loving care of Doris and thanks also to the Medical personnel on Ward 6W. Visitation will be held on , 6, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in Sunset Chapel, with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on , 7, 2011 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National . Obituary: Colonel Frank Ward, USA (Ret), passed away at the Army Residence Community on 1, 2013 after a long illness at the age of 68. Frank was born in Fall River, MA. Frank attended Catholic schools and excelled in mathematics. He graduated from UMass and MIT with degrees in electrical and computer engineering. Frank served his country proudly for 36 years, first as an Army Signal Corps officer, then as a GS-15 intelligence officer at Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC. He was assigned to positions all over the US, including Alaska, The Pentagon, ARPERCEN, and Ft. Hood. He served in Korea twice, and there he met his wife, Barbara, who was serving there also. Many thanks to all Franks caregivers and doctors, especially Drs. Moszkowicz, Fish, Bell, Goff, Shulman and Trujillo, for their compassionate care, as well as Morningside Manor, the ARC Staff, and finally Heart to Heart Hospice for their loving care of both him and Barbara during his last days. Helen was brought up in the farmlands of Illinois and Nebraska moving to Wyoming to work as a Telegrapher for the Union Pacific Rail Road at the age of 19. While in Wyoming she met a young Spanish Basque man named Frank Urutia and soon fell deeply in love and they married and began a family together while both working for the rail road.

raised 3 children, Cecelia Rose, Diana Fern, and Frank Fredrick. Frank, her husband, died in 1970 and is interred in Laramie, Wyoming. Cecelia struck off independently from the rest of the family in 1983 and is living successfully in Colorado, Diana worked for many years in the libraries of the various oil companies here in the great city of Houston, and Frank Fredrick enlisted in the Navy. Helen worked in medical records for various hospitals here in Houston and was active in the United Methodist church, local animal charities and showed dogs for many years winning top honors with some of her dogs.

Helen is also survived by a brother Everet Switzer of Florida and a sister Stella Carmen of Missouri, 2 Grand-Sons, Paul of Belton, TX and Joey of Ventura, CA, and 4.5 Great-Grand-Children; Brandon, Angel, and Anthony of Belton TX, and Winter of Ventura. Winters mommie, Sara is expecting Helens 5th Great Grand-Child in 2015.

Helen will always be remembered for her sweet spirit and helpful attitude towards others. Well miss her but wish her the very best in her new life with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. We are thankful she is at last re-united with her creator, her husband, and all those that were waiting for her to cross through deaths threshold. Today there is surely a brighter light in heaven with her presence.
