Obituary: Michel Upton, age 54, left her home surrounded by her loving family and was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on 28, 2014. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 16, 1960. Michel married the love of her life, Dale Upton, on 4, 1978 and for 36 years built a home of faith, love, and laughter. A member of Wilmont Place Baptist Church, Michel actively served in the youth ministry. She loved teenagers and spent her adulthood in helping them experience God's love. Her greatest joy in life was becoming "Mimi" to her four grandchildren. She spent every extra moment having fun with or planning the next adventure with Ella, Kash, Tinlee, and Brynlee. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jenella (Strickland) Norman; sister, Paulette Sosa; brother, Richard Caldwell; and father-in-law, Ray Upton. Michel is survived by her husband, Dale Upton; son, Kyle Upton and wife Audra of Yukon, Oklahoma; daughter, Andrea Vaughn and husband, Joe of Moore, Oklahoma; brother, Ron Caldwell of Edmond, Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Barbara Upton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Ella and Kash Upton, Tinlee and Brynlee Vaughn; and a large number of family members and friends. Obituary: Harold Lee Uptegraft was born 29, 1930 in Drumright, Oklahoma and passed away 25, 2014. He was raised in Drumright among a community of close-knit extended family. It took all of them. He spent his school years being a boy, participating passionately in basketball, football and track while trying to pay attention to school work. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and attended regularly. Graduation in 1948 presented the opportunity to consider several major school athletic scholarships but the draft loomed with the onset of the Korean War, so Harold chose to enlist in the Army for two years instead of being drafted for three. As it turned out, his enlistment was extended in , 1950 to the third year. In Harold was sent to Korea and by 31 of that year was taken prisoner. being marched, tortured and starved, he was lined up before a firing squad, shot and left for dead. The following year was spent in the hospital until his discharge from service at Ft. Sill in 1951. his health recovered, he spent all his life in the oil industry in every capacity \ on the rigs, in sales, entrepreneur and owner of Oilfield Services Inc., a manufacturing company, owner of Geronimo Oilfield Supply and Online Oil, a production company. In 1964 he and his two children married Barbara Harrisberger from Ponca City, Oklahoma and they added two more children to the family. joined St. Lukes United Methodist Church in 1967 and raised their family there, where Harold served on the Finance and Bus Committees. Since 1977 and for 28 years, Harold served on the Board of Directors of First National Bank of Moore and Intrust Bank of Oklahoma City. His love of life was spending time with family and friends through boating, golf, bowling and fishing. He will be remembered and honored by all of us for his genuine and deep love, tender heart, kindness in friendship, light-hearted, fun-loving spirit, witty jokes, nose for fun, hospitality and generosity, loyalty, hard work ethic and courage in life. His parents, Forrest Uptegraft and Leda Evans, and his sister Betty Hulsey, preceded Harold in death. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; four children: Bill Uptegraft & wife Shirley of Alaska, Tarese Keleher & husband Mike of Goodyear, Arizona, Debbie Casey & husband Roger of Allen, Texas, and Todd Uptegraft of Moore, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three nieces. A service to honor his life will be held at St. Lukes United Methodist Church, 15th and Robinson, Oklahoma City at 11:00 a.m., 4, 2014. Obituary: UPSHER, Sidney Phelps, beloved father and friend, died 28, 2010, at the age of 87. Having been born in Oklahoma City on 31, 1923, Sidney was a life-long resident. He attended Gatewood Elementary School and graduated from Old Classen High School in 1941. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1947, and a Law Degree in 1948, both from the University of Oklahoma. His education was interrupted by World War II, when he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, where he earned his pilots wings and Officers commission. In the truest sense, he was a member of The Greatest Generation. As the command pilot of a B-17 Flying Fortress, he successfully completed a 50 mission tour of duty in the European Theatre of Operations. As a result of this service, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, and the European Theater of Operations Ribbon with Four Battle Stars. He was then assigned to the Air Transport Command and, as a First Pilot, flew personnel and cargo across the Pacific until he was discharged in , 1945. He returned to Oklahoma and the University of Oklahoma and resumed his college career, after which he practiced law in Oklahoma City until the outset of the Korean War. At that time, he was recalled to duty with the Air Force in , 1951, where he was assigned to the Office of The Secretary of the Air Force at the Pentagon. When he was released from duty in , 1952, he became General Counsel for LeeWay Motor Freight. He left LeeWay in 1977 as a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Vice-President. From 1977 to 1987, Sidney was the Chief Executive Officer of Mistletoe Express. In 1987 he became Of Counsel to the Law Firm of McAfee and Taft, retiring in 1999. His participation in community affairs included: The United Way, first as Board Member, then as President and Trustee; Casady School as Trustee and Vice-President; the City of Nichols Hills, first as councilman then as Mayor; Board Member of Will Rogers Bank, and The First National Bank and Trust . He was a member and President of the Economy Club of Oklahoma City and the Appeals Review Board. He was a sixty year member of the Oklahoma Bar. Sidney loved life, his family, his friends, and his Church. He continued to learn and grow long after he retired. His interest in genealogy was well known by his children, and he audited history classes at the University of Oklahoma into his eighties. He loved the summers he spent in Colorado with his family and the winters he spent in Rancho Mirage, California, trying to achieve the perfect golf swing. In later years, he loved managing his business interests, one of which was Gaslight Square, the tenants of which will miss his wry sense of humor. Sidney had a keen intellect and a love of history that led him all over the world. He was a voracious reader who had a great love of playing Backgammon, gin rummy and the traditional Thanksgiving dart game. As his surviving friends from grade school, high school, college and beyond will attest, he made friends for life. Sidney was proceeded in death by his parents and his brother, Dr. Albert E. Upsher Jr., Margaret Adams Upsher, the mother of his four daughters, and Betty Lou Lee Upsher, the mother of his three step-daughters. He is survived by daughters Meridith and husband Tad Cassidy, Leslie Upsher, Kathy and husband John Yeaman, and Elaine Upsher Archer. He is also survived by step-daughters Laurie and husband Nick Fuller, Lisa and husband Mark Pierce, Lynn and husband John Rowsey. His legacy also includes 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at All Souls Episcopal Church, 6400 N. Pennsylvania on , 1st at noon. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to All Souls Episcopal Church. |
