Obituary: Nicholas K. Urbanek, age 33, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly, , 18, 2013 at home. A lifelong resident of Acushnet, currently residing in New Bedford. He was the son of Linda Hough and the late Ken S. Urbanek. Nicholas was a graduate of New Bedford High School Class of 1998 and a Cum Laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts - Amherst, Class of 2002 from the School of Business Administration and Finance. Survivors in addition to his mother and his step father Thom Hough III, include sister, Nicole Urbanek of Fall River; 2 aunts, Judy DeRossi and her wonderful husband Barry of Acushnet; Cynthia Rabello of Deland, FL; his grandmother, Dorothy Mello of Acushnet; his cousins, Todd DeRossi of Acushnet; Jennifer daCosta and her husband Jason, and their children Ben and Lucas of Acushnet; Lisa DeMello and her children Zachary, Destiny and Hayley; Kevin Rabello of Deland, FL and his family; his long-time girlfriend Katherine Riveira and her children Janae, Jayda, and granddaughters Ava and Gabriella and several other cousins. Nicholas enjoyed many things including, sporting activities such as baseball, bowling, basketball, softball, and fishing; reminiscing about his childhood, spending time at the beach and pumping iron. However, nothing was more important to him than spending time with his family. Viewing hours will be held on 23rd from 5-8pm at Rock , 1285 Ashley Blvd. New Bedford, MA. Obituary: Peter W Urban, 61, of Boston, MA died on 13, 2009 at the Tippett in Needham after a long battle with cancer. Peter was born 1, 1948 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Peter W and Mildred Reffler Urban. His family moved to Rochelle Park, NJ, where he attended and graduated from Hoboken High. Peter attended Boston University before he moved to Hawaii, where he discovered his passion for taking pictures. Upon his return to Boston, he graduated from the Applied Photography Program of the New England School of Photography. To further enhance his skills, Peter attended the Arnold Newman Master Class at the Maine Photographic Workshops and Provincetown Fine Arts Work , where he studied photo etching. Peter was an established and well known fine art and commercial photographer in Boston for over two decades. In 2007, his exhibit Faces of Downtown comprised 65 portraits displayed at City Hall and his work Advertise This was displayed prominently in Bostons Downtown Crossing. In addition, his portrait work includes Mayor Thomas Menino, Senate President Therese Murray, Michael Dukakis, Keith Lockhart, Todd English, Joyce Kulhawick, Robert B. Parker, Susan Orlean, Robert Brustein, Carleton Varney and Fay Wray. His work has been published in The New York Times, the Boston Globe magazine, Boston Magazine, New York Magazine and Improper Bostonian. Mr. Urbans commercial clients included American Express, Intuit, Boston Symphony Orchestra, WGBH, The Berklee of Music, CVS Pharmacy and Summit Mortgage. Yet, Peter was known for his generous pro bono work and contributing work for charity purposes to organizations including the AIDS Action Committee, American Cancer Society, Community Servings, Fenway Community , and Community Research Initiative of New England. Peters most recent exhibit, in 2009, was at the Gallery Kayafas at 450 Harrison Avenue entitled Still in Motion which included the final four pieces from the Proof of Motion series. Four images from his work Proof of Motion were selected for the 2007 National Photography Competition. His awards included the Directors Award from the 2007 International Exhibition at the for Fine Art Photography, Fort Collins, CO and the New Approach Award from Fuji Films in 2001. Peters work blended an appreciation for light and composition with an energy and humor that reflected his urban lifestyle. His studio, at the renovated Joshua Bates School on Harrison Avenue, reflected his commitment to the community of artists in Bostons South End and neighborhood development in general. Peter is survived by his life partner, Steven McCarthy of Boston, mother, Mildred Urban of Sandwich, his aunts Muriel Filoramo of Charlemont and Maryanne McCabe of Chatham, NJ, and his cousins Richard and Pam Filoramo of Charlemont, Robert and Eileen Filoramo of Warren, NJ, and Yakov and Sarah Jeanne Epelstein of Israel. He is also survived by numerous second and third cousins as well as countless friends. Visiting hours will be held on from 4 – 7 in the Bell-ODea , 376 Washington St., BROOKLINE.
