Obituary: William Forbes Uber, Jr. born May 6, 1935, went to the Kingdom on 29, 2016. Bill was born in Paterson, New Jersey and grew up with his parents, William and Helen, and his sister, Jacqueline, in Glen Rock, New Jersey. He attended Xavier High School in New York City. Bill loved the Jesuits. AMDG! From Xavier he headed to Washington, D.C. to The Catholic University of America (CUA) graduating in 1958 with a degree in architectural engineering. He was a four-year starting point guard for the CUA Cardinals, number 18, two-time team captain, scored over 700 points and led the team in assists all four years. He was inducted into the CUA Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999. His four-year teammate, Tom McKavitt, married Bills sister, Jackie in 1959. Following college, he attended the U.S. Navy Officer Candidate School in Newport, R.I. and served four years in the Civil Engineer Corps of the Navy. Seabees can do! He served in Spain and was also stationed at Guatanamo Bay, Cuba during the Cuban missile crisis. He was honorably discharged as a lieutenant in 1963. On a holiday leave home from Seville, Spain in 1962, he was set up on a blind date by his sister and met the beautiful and sweet Virginia Ginny McAleer. married in May, 1963 and had five children and seven grandchildren in their 49 years of marriage. Following the Navy, Bill put the G.I. Bill to good use and earned a masters in business administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, N.J. However, the corporate world and working for The Man were not for him. So while managing commercial construction projects by day and taking classes by night for four years at Seton Hall University Law School in Newark, he completed his J.D. in 1972. Following his law school graduation, Bill and Ginny moved with their family to Dunedin, Florida. Bill started his law practice, first with partners in Clearwater and then his solo practice in Dunedin. Bill practiced law for 40 years, specializing in estate law and what is now called elder law. His care of elderly clients frequently included bringing them Communion, taking them to a ball game, or helping them move into a nursing home. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Dunedin, Florida for 38 years. Bill served as parish council president, lector, Eucharistic minister, brought new members into the church through RCIA, and with Ginny helped with marriage preparation classes. Up till his death, he organized an annual Mens Retreat in Tampa. Jesuit-led, of course. In addition to attending his own childrens many athletic events, he was an assistant boys basketball coach at Clearwater Central Catholic HS for five years (1987-1992), helping the Marauders to the 2A Florida State Championship in 1987. In 2002, Ginny and Bill retired for half the year to Stowe, Vermont where they met wonderful new friends and enjoyed the Green Mountains from their deck. Ginny was diagnosed with ALS in 2009, they moved to Bloomington, Indiana in , 2010. Ginnys decline was difficult, and Bill managed her care as a fierce advocate. Bill was a member of St. Paul Catholic where he participated in prayer and bible study groups, bereavement support, Men2Men, and may have occasionally advised his new Dominican friends on homily content. These last two years, he enjoyed the companionship of Debra Denning with whom he traveled, attended Jacobs School of Music concerts and followed Hoosier basketball. His decline in , 2016 was rapid and sudden. three days at IU Bloomington Hospital and a diagnosis of aggressive pancreatic cancer, he died peacefully at IU Hospice House. He received beautiful care from the staff at both facilities and from his wonderful doctors- Tom Hrisomalos, Gary Gettelfinger, Souheil Haddad, and Mark Dayton. Bill was one in a million. Funny, generous, complex, charming, smart, honest, faith-filled. An overall piece of work. He was a diehard fan of the Yankees, the Fighting Irish, the Green Bay Packers, the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Chicago Black Hawks, and IU Basketball. Mostly he was a fan of his family and is enjoying a big reunion in heaven. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Uber Kincaid, Elizabeth Uber, Catherine Uber Racek; his sons-in-law, Jay Kincaid and Jonathan Racek; his seven grandchildren, Josephine, Liam, Frances, Cecelia, and Jude Kincaid and Alice and Adelaide Racek; his sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and Thomas McKavitt; his in-laws, Ginnys siblings, George and Joanne McAleer, James and Sandee McAleer, Mary Jo and Dave Ostrowski, and Mary Kathryne Ryan; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons, Peter Joseph, who died at birth, and William Francis Xavier, who died at age 22 in 2002 and whom he missed tremendously; and his brother-in-law, Thomas Maloney. Obituary: Virginia Marie McAleer Uber , born 7, 1940, went to the Kingdom on 16, 2012. Ginny was born in Hackensack, New Jersey and grew up with her parents, George and Josephine, and her three siblings, George, Jim and Mary Jo, in Hillsdale, New Jersey. She proudly reigned for one year as Junior High Sock Hop Queen. Ginny was caring, smart and loved details. For these reasons, she was called to nursing. Plus, she said she looked good in white. Through a blind date set up by her nursing colleague at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ (and future sister-in-law), she met LTJG Bill Uber in 1962. Even with many miles and the Cuban Missile Crisis between them, they knew it was meant to be. married in May, 1963. Two daughters followed \ Jenny in 1966, Liz in 1969. In 1972, Virginia and her family moved to Dunedin, Florida. Another daughter, Cate, was born in 1973, and a son, Bill, in 1979. Virginia was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Dunedin, Florida for 38 years. The 9:30 a.m. guitar mass was her favorite. She served pulled pork sandwiches at the Fall Festival, brought communion to the sick, led Evenings for the Engaged with Bill, helped deliver toys to the migrant community, and willingly and enthusiastically added anyone in need to the Prayer List she kept by the kitchen phone. She delivered many pots of her delicious soup to the sick and anyone who needed a holiday meal had a place at her table. In 2002, Ginny and Bill retired part-year to Stowe, Vermont where they spent summers and met wonderful new friends, cross-country skied, hiked, entertained, and watched hot air balloons float over the Green Mountains from their deck. She designed their beautiful home and Bill saw to its construction. Ginny and Bill were members of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Stowe. Ginny was diagnosed with ALS in , 2009. Through the declines and difficulties that this disease brought her, she was unceasingly joyful, courageous and filled with faith. She and Bill moved to Bloomington, Indiana in , 2010. In Bloomington, she had a wonderful team of caregivers \ and she loved and appreciated each of them. Ginny loved a clean, clutter-free kitchen countertop, could fold a fitted sheet better than anyone and often said, Life is too short for plain boring socks. She was artistic and creative and rarely sent a store-bought card, and if she did it had to be funny. Her children always had the best posters and the prettiest book covers. She was a wonderful mother and a fabulous grandmother. Virginia was a Jersey Girl and a beauty \ inside and out. She is with her Lord now! And even though we know she is peaceful and happy, she will still be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, William F. Uber, Jr., her daughters, Jennifer Uber Kincaid, Elizabeth Uber, Catherine Uber Racek; her sons-in-law, Jay Kincaid and Jonathan Racek; her siblings, George R. McAleer (wife, Joanne), James K. McAleer (wife, Sandee), and Mary Jo Ostrowski (husband, Dave); sister-in-law Mary Kathryne Ryan; her seven grandchildren, Josephine, Liam, Frances, Cecelia, Jude, Alice and Adelaide and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; sons, Peter Joseph, who died at birth, and William Francis Xavier, who died in 2002; and her brother-in-law, Thomas C. Maloney, Sr. We have many, many people to thank for help on Virginias journey, but especially want to acknowledge Perla Vidaurri, Dr. Tom Hrisomalos, Dr. John Kincaid, Cheryl Gordon, RN, Mickey Hawes, RN, Esther Dakwa, Erika Lynch, and Cathleen Weber and the Bloomington ALS Support Group. Obituary: Kenneth Kenny John Ubelhor, 70, of Newburgh, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of May 10, 2010. He was born 28, 1940, in Evansville. He was an entrepreneur in Newburgh, and with his wife, Mary Ann, started Maken Corporation. Over the years, Maken Corporation helped expand Newburgh into a thriving community by starting numerous subdivisions and commercial developments. As his four children joined the business, they worked together to increase the business by adding home building and other business ventures. Kenny also served the community as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals in Warrick and was a member of the Southwestern Indiana Builders Association. Kenny was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He gave his time, talent and treasures freely. He was instrumental in many building projects including the new church building, Mother Teresa Treasurers, Warrick Food Bank, and the St. John the Baptist Parish and Mausoleum. In 2009, Kenny and Mary Ann were presented with the Brute Award by the bishop for their giving spirit. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Roberta Ubelhor. Kenny is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Ann Ubelhor; sons, Daniel, Steven (Kelly), Jeffrey and Kevin Ubelhor; grandchildren, Sayward, Zachary, Courtney, Bryanna, Bryce and Hannah Ubelhor; step-grandchildren, Robert and John Fawcett; sisters, Donna (Art) Rodgers, Joanne Haas, Mary (Forrest) Meuth and Sharon and Harroll Meuth. Services will be 10:00 AM , May 12, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Road, Newburgh, officiated by Fr. Joseph Ziliak with entombment in St. John the Baptist Parish and Mausoleum. Friends may visit from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 2691, and from 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Mother Teresa Treasurers, c/o St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Road, Newburgh, IN 47630.
