Obituary: Gregory Charles Trojan beloved husband, son, godfather, cousin, nephew, friend and uncle passed away peacefully on Dec 15, 2012 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His grace and strength of character while he battle an aggressive cancer for a year and half, was an inspiration to those who knew him. He was born in Omaha in 1953 to Charles and Marie Ann (Masek) Trojan, an only child. He graduated High School in Omaha in 1971 and joined the United States Navy in 1980. The Navy sent him to graduate school to earn his Masters of Business Administration and also to numerous other government schools. Of note, He was a member of the first crew (plank owner) on the ship USS Fort McHenry. Commander Trojan was a superb manager and auditor but his real love was leading sailors at sea. Lymphoma in 1998, though in successful remission, meant elimination from sea duty and Greg retired from the Navy in 2002 as a Commander. Greg volunteered to be the primary care giver to Roslyns mother Betty. Upon Bettys death he opened Trojan Associates, Inc, a management consultant company when the couple moved to Colorado Springs in 2006. Greg focused on his beloved family and friends, especially his fellow musicians. A great supporter of Polka music, he was inducted into the Omaha Sokol Hall of Fame in 2007. He was a professional piano and button accordion player and also played drums and the piano. He played with several bands: Basement 3, Ron Nadherny, Dick Janak, Ernie Kucera, Frankie Remar, Eddie Janak, Al Grebinek, Jim Bochnicek, Studio Trio, Leo Lonnie, Coppersmiths, Bored of Directors, Dean Hansen, Lincoln Czech Choraliers, Omaha Czech Brass Band, and many others. He recorded with Frankie Remar, Ernie Kucera, Ron Nadherny, A Tribute to Jerry Mazanec, Studio Trio, & Leo Lonnie. He was also a loyal Corn Husker! He loved playing music. While in the Navy, he would fly into NE from Washington, DC or where ever stationed to play dance jobs and while in CO, he would drive to NE just to play with bands. He was well known for his great accordion playing and being a wonderful friend to so many. He will be missed. Greg leaves behind his wife Roz, his dad Charlie, and so many beloved relatives and friends. His last wish was for everyone to know he went to eternal happiness and peace. |
