Obituary: Mibu Takeda of Fowler, California was born in Kagoshima Japan 15, 1919 and passed away peacefully on 11, 2015. immigrating to the United States in 1960, Mibu received her US citizenship and lived the American dream. She worked on the family farm growing raisins and raised four children. In addition, Mibu worked at a fruit packing house in Del Rey and harvested berries for other farmers. She is survived by her husband Fumito Takeda; daughter Kana Nakayama; son Fumiomi Takeda and wife Judith; son Watson Takeda and wife Laurie; son Kenny Takeda and wife Paula, grand children Allyson Nakayama, James Nakayama and wife Julie, Austin and Tracy Takeda, and 3 great-grandchildren. Raised in Fowler, CA, Jeff graduated from California State University, Fresno, and started his career at Saint Agnes Medical as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist where he worked for 38 years. He was a youthful soul, someone with a zest for life who loved the outdoors and could always be found gardening or tending to his fruit trees in the backyard. Though he cherished the past, he always looked forward to the future and wanted to make an impact on others. He was instrumental in the development of the West Clovis Judo Club. As founder and head instructor, he had an unwavering dedication and passion for judo. He inspired those around him to achieve their highest aspirations, instilling ideals of discipline, integrity, and fortitude. He believed that life's challenges were meant to help you discover who you are. Obituary: James Keiji Takeda began his life on 15, 1948 in Dinuba, CA. Jimmy grew up on the family farm in Orosi helping to plant, maintain, harvest, and pack a variety of fruits and vegetables alongside the many aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, and cousins he deeply cherished. As was true for the rest of his life, Jimmy's hard work provided success in his early life whether in school, on the football field, with a shot put or discus in hand, or playing the trombone in the Orosi High School band. finishing his pre-requisite requirements at Fresno State, Jim left the Central Valley for the University of Southern California Dental School, a period that defined his adult life for it was there that he met and fell in love with his future wife, Mun Koon; adopted a little brother and sister, Gary and Diane Uyeda; cultivated a passion for USC Football; and learned a craft that would help him touch lives. When not in the office, Jim was his happiest manning the smoker to make his famous ribs for many a family gathering, sitting on the couch watching USC Football, playing golf with friends and family, and fishing with his brothers on the Central Coast and in La Paz, Mexico. James wore many hats, but was first and foremost a provider. For his many treasured patients, Dr. Takeda provided dental care with the care and reassurance of a friend for over 40 years. For his friends, Jim provided a hearty laugh and a fierce ally. For his parents Sam and May and his many aunts and uncles, Jimmy provided the American Dream. For his children Michael and Karen, and their respective spouses Jessica and Greg, Dad provided the comfort of knowing that they could always count on him for anything and everything. For his grandchildren Phoebe, Zoe, and Luke, Grandpa Jim provided anything sweet their little hearts desired, especially jelly beans. For his brothers Norman and Bobby, his sisters Ruth, Nora, and Margie, his many cousins and all of their respective spouses, Jimmy provided a role model who was always there to take care of them. And for his beloved wife Mun, Jim provided a lifetime of memories, joy, and love. Jim's short battle with cancer ended on May 28, 2017 surrounded by his loved ones. While his life was cut short, he will always be remembered by those who knew him and will live in their hearts forever. A Celebration of Life service will be held at San Joaquin Country Club on , 23, 2017 at 11:00 am. Obituary: Yoshio Takayama passed away peacefully at home on , 15, 2017, at the age of 100. Yoshio was born in Kingsburg, CA, the eldest son of Yasaburo and Yoshi Takayama, and was raised in the Kingsburg, Del Rey and Selma areas. He graduated from Selma High School in 1935. Executive Order 9066 forced Japanese Americans to be relocated away from the west coast. His family was sent to Gila River Internment in Arizona. the war, the family returned to the Central Valley. Yoshio was a long time farmer in the Del Rey and Selma areas, where he farmed plums and grapes for raisins and wine. He also worked at the UC Kearny Field Station in Parlier, CA, as a Principal Ag Tech, retiring in 1990. He will be remembered as a hard working farmer, independent, quiet, humble and one who greeted everyone with a smile. He was a member of the Del Rey and Selma communities, Fresno Betsuin Temple and Senior Club, and Chuka Kumamoto Shinwa Kai. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Shizuo Takayama of Fresno, CA, and Mitsume Takayama of Michigan. He is survived by Miwa Takayama, his wife of 70 years; daughter, Gail Misaki and her husband Bill of Fresno; brother, Mits Takayama and his wife Mary of Fresno; sister-in-law, Phyllis Takayama of Michigan; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Dennis Nakata and the staff at Saint Agnes Hospice for the exceptional care they provided. Visitation will be held at Lisle on , 28, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 pm. A Service will be held at Kingsburg Buddhist Church, 831 Orange St., Kingsburg, CA, on , 29, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. |
