Obituary: Charles (Buddy) Thornton was born on 25, 1935 to Claude and Eloise Thornton in Atlanta Georgia. Buddy went to be with the Lord on 19, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was such a loving and caring husband, daddy and granddaddy who always put his family first. He retired from NASA where he was a crane operator. He hung the missile that stands on the Alabama/Tennessee state line. He was an entrepreneur who owned rental property in Decatur and years ago owned Lacon Trade Day and Buddy's Package Store. He was a Decatur resident for over 50 years. He loved Alabama Footb'all and deer hunting. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a Master Mason and Shriner. The family will have visitation and celebration of his life , 23'd at Roselawn from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. The funeral will be , 24th at Roselawn at 2:00pm. Burial will be in Roselawn . He was preceded in death by his two sons, Everett and Anthony Thornton, his mother and father Claude and Eloise Thornton, his sisters Temperance McGhee and Mamie Fowler. He is survived by his wife of 31 years Bonnie Lynch Thornton, daughter Melissa Kelso, grandson Ethan Kelso, stepson Michael Bowman, sister Ann Thornton, niece Kelly Wright, nephews Ashley Steadham, Jessie Baker and many more nieces and nephews. We love and miss you so much. |

Obituary: Anita Rebecca Thornton, 51, of Prattville, passed away 15, 2015 after a brief illness. A Celebration of Life service was held 21st at 2:30 PM at the First Baptist Church of Poseys Crossroads with Pastor Tommy Roy officiating. Anita was born 10, 1963 to the late William r Thornton and Dorothy Jean Shaw Thornton. She worked for many years in the retail store business. Anita will always be remembered for her outgoing personality and kindness to everyone. She enjoyed meeting people, gardening, cooking and cared greatly for pets and animals.
