Obituary: Helen Lee Thaxton of Sissonville, wife of the late Leonard Thaxton, was born into this world on 25, 1917 to parents William Carpenter and Macel Stonestreet Carpenter. Her spirit departed this world on May 13, 2016, after living here over 99 years, to return to our Heavenly Father, and to be with our Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ. Also preceding her into the next world, were her parents, and her siblings brothers, Hillard, Elton and Richard Carpenter; sisters, Reba Carpenter Harless and Lorene Carpenter McBride; grandson, Mark David Nida and great grandson, Michael Lee Nida, II. Left behind to cherish her memory is brother, David Carpenter; children, Beverly Thaxton Nida and husband Okey, Gerald Thaxton and wife Jean and Steven Thaxton; 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, plus countless other family and friends. She loved her church and church family and was a charter member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. She was born again into the family of God and was baptized on 5, 1942. She lived a godly and peaceable life while here on this earth. She prayed without ceasing. She was a loving and obedient daughter to her parents. She was a loving and faithful wife to her husband and was a loving and caring mother to her children and grandchildren. She was a faithful, caring, obedient and loving child of God. Her desire was to see all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren come to the knowledge of the truth …Jesus Christ. That Jesus, the Christ, is the Son of One, True and Living God. Services will be 5:00 PM May 17, 2016 at Elizabeth Baptist Church, Wolf Pen, with J.J. Layne and Pastor Randy Campbell officiating. Obituary: Earl Thaxton, 87, of Sissonville, passed away at home on 20, 2015. Mr. Thaxton was a life-long resident of Sissonville. He started out working in the coal industry but retired as a bus driver for Kanawha Schools after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; daughter, Dixie Krichbaum; five brothers; and one sister. Surviving are his loving children, Nadine Gandy and husband, Leonard of Sissonville, Honey Cox of Sissonville, Darlena Wheatcraft and husband, Bob of Lenoir, NC, Sonny Thaxton of Charleston and Rocky Thaxton and wife, Jeannie of La Porte, TX; brothers, Garland Thaxton and Owen Thaxton, both of Sissonville; sister, Eunice Burdette of Sissonville; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a good friend and helper for our Dad in need is Sharon Spurlock. service will be 11:00 AM , 24, 2015 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson with Pastor Jerry Bonnett officiating. Obituary: Dorothy Meickles Thaxton, loving wife of Robert Thaxton, of Charleston departed this earth on , 20, 2014, at Hubbard Hospice House-West. Dorothy and Bob, who attended Bible Church, were happily married 59 years ago, on 9. Dorothy led an active life as a devoted wife, mother, sister and in service to others. Dorothy had many accomplishments in her life, but cooking and nursing were her loves. She cared deeply for others and gave tirelessly of herself. Dorothy graduated from Garnet er and Morris Harvey with LPN and RN degrees. working in several positions throughout the Kanawha Valley, she retired from Thomas Hospital. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer and Catherine Harrison Meickles; son-in-law, Edward Smith; sisters, Mona Jean Barnhart and Vada Mooney; brother, Glenvil Tommy Meickles; sister-in-law, Dena Huffman; brother-in-laws, Charles Phipps, Kenny Griffith, and Charles Mooney; and a host of nieces and nephews. Dorothy is leaving a loving family consisting of her children; Robert Thaxton, Kathy Smith, and Angela (Tim) Weaver, along with five grandchildren; Allison Smith, Chad Smith, Joshua Weaver, Alexandra Weaver, and Andrea Weaver. Dorothy is also survived by siblings, Delores (Robert) Hill; Lenzy (Brenda) Meickles; Virginia Harless; Rebecca Phipps; Ella Rae Myers; sister-in-laws, Anita Griffith and Jean Meickles; and brother-in-law, William Huffman along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins who have shared her life and enjoyed her generous hospitality. Any relative or friend in need knew they could depend on Dorothy for help. The family would like to thank Hubbard Hospice House-West for the kind and thoughtful care of their wife and mother. The staff support of the family through the sad loss of their loved one is greatly appreciated. A Service to Honor the Life of Dorothy will be held at 2:00 PM, , 24, 2014 at Snodgrass , South Charleston with Pastor Chad Cowan officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Family and Friends may visit one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
