Obituary: Joseph Anthony Tavolacci, M.D., age 73 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life afternoon, 8, 2015 at the Monongalia General Hospital at Morgantown, WV. He had been in declining health for the past three years. He was born , 7, 1942 at Brooklyn, NY a son of the late Salvatore and Katherine Anna Gagliardi Tavolacci. He was married to the former Nancy Jo Baker, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Joseph Anthony Tavolacci II, John Aurelius Tavolacci; two daughters, Katherine Margaret Tavolacci, Anna Teresa Tavolacci; and two grandchildren, Isaiah Lee, and Aubrey Rose. He attended Wagner in New York, and Bologna University Medical School in Bologna, Italy. He made his home in Elkins for the past thirty-seven years, was an Ophthalmologist and dedicated his life to his patients and family. He was a member of the Elkins Lodge # 1135, B.P.O.E., the Tygarts Valley Medical Society, the WV State Medical Society and the Saint Brendan Catholic Church. A Private family graveside service was held. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Elkins Little League Baseball, P. O. Obituary: Jennie MacBurnie Tattrie passed away peacefully with family by her side on 26, 2015. Jennie was born the fourth child to Margaret May Reid and Clinton Hammon MacBurnie in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia, Canada, on 23, 1916. She lived her life on the family farm in the community of Barrachois with her parents, sister, Muriel, brothers Charlie and Donnie, along with her beloved dog, Jack. In her teens, she met her brother Donnie's friend, Roy Tattrie. a 4-year courtship, she married the love of her life, Roy A. G. Tattrie, on 15, 1936. Together Jennie and Roy raised a family of 8; Roy Dale (Peggy); Clinton Wendell (Vesta); Myrna M. Ponce de Leon (Ernesto); Iris A. Miller (Bill); Sheila G. Stovall (Lee); Duane G. (Janice); Dawn Elaine Mayers (David); Twila H. Zepp (Jerry). Jennie was predeceased by her husband, Roy ( 1983), and her two sons, Duane G. ( 2003) and Clinton Wendell ( 2012). Jennie and Roy were blessed with 34 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Nana, as she was affectionately known, was close and caring to all her grandchildren. At some point in their lives, she cared for many of them while their mothers worked. She taught her children and grandchildren songs, read stories to them, and was a great story teller. She loved all children and they loved her. She was always doing things with and for children. In the early 1940's, Jennie and Roy studied the message of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and in 1942 were baptized. were both devoted to and active in their church all their lives. Jennie was a deaconess, church treasurer, member and leader in the church Dorcas Society, and taught children's cradle roll and kindergarten classes to name only a small part of the service she gave to her beloved church. She was not only a great Christian wife, mother, and Nana, she was a faithful friend. Jennie was an unbelievable cook. She is well known for her excellent breads and pies. She also loved growing things, especially flowers. She was an avid crossword puzzler, and Scrabble player, and her needlework and knitting are works of art. Family and friends alike will miss this beautiful soul. She was gentle and kind to everyone. A person who her family and all who knew her would call blessed. Friends will be received at Rosedale on , 2nd from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 12pm. Interment will follow in Rosedale , where Jennie will be laid to rest next to her soul mate, Roy, and her beloved grandson, Mark Alan.
