Obituary: Virgil Frank Totusek (age 83) Virgil Totusek, passed away 19, 2016 in Odessa, WA. He was born May 21, 1933, on the family farm, to Frank and Ruby (Hoover) Totusek. He was a member of the Marlin Presbyterian Church. Virgil was an avid horseshoe player, US Army Korean Vet, enjoyed trapshooting and loved to bowl with the Irby Ridge Bowlers. He participated with the Odessa VFW, and was a 50 year member of the Odessa Grange. He was also a former American Legion Commander in Wilson Creek. Virgil is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruby (Hoover) Totusek and one sister Margaret Totusek and survived by one brother Loren Totusek. A military graveside service will be held at the Bohemian 23rd, 2016 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jon Hayashi, officiating. Memorials can be made by donors choice. Obituary: Mr. Totty, born in Friendship Community, Elmore , Alabama, and died in Tacoma, Washington, May 16, 2007, was the last of fifteen children born to Abner J. and Mattie Elizabeth Anderson Totty. Mr. Totty was preceded in death by his fourteen brothers and sisters and his only son Abner Totty III. He is survived by his wife Jessie Lee OGwynn Totty, his daughter Syra Beth Puett, his grandchildren Caryl John Dowd, Robert Terri Puett, and Geoffrey Puett Linda Robson, and two great-granddaughters, Juliana and Mariana Dowd. Mr. Totty served in the Air Force for twenty-three years. In retirement, he drove a special education bus for the Northeast School District. In his youth, Mr. Totty was one of the first Eagle Scouts in the state of Alabama. For many years, he was active as a leader in the Boy Scout programs of Randolph Air Force base and San Antonio Wood Badge and Order of the Arrow. He was also a thirty-second degree Mason and a member of the Alzafar Shrine 1975 president of the Chanters. |

Obituary: Jessie Lee OGwynn Totty passed away on 16, 2009, in Tacoma, Washington. She was born in Montgomery, Alabama on 14, 1917, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Thomas OGwynn. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1934. She worked at a variety of jobs until her marriage to A. J. Totty, Jr. in 1940. Ten years later, after the births of two children, she returned to work with civil service as a clerk typist in the Montgomery Court of Common Pleas. In 1953, when the family was transferred to Texas, she began working for the Air Force at Randolph Air Force Base. She became a medical records librarian and later worked in officer assignments. She also led Cub Scout dens and officiated in local PTA organizations. A woman of many talents, Jessie became a member of the San Antonio chapter of the American Association of Medical Librarians. During those years, she also earned an associate of arts degree at San Antonio and joined a local branch of International Toastmistress Clubs. Over the next twenty years, she held virtually every office at club, district, and regional level of ITC, rising to the rank of International vice president. She held all offices in the Fred Pillet Unit of the National Association of Parliamentarians and adjudicated at local Interscholastic League speech contests. She was active in the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, serving as their Court Musician. For many years as a member of Parkhills Baptist Church, she sang in the choir, taught School, and drove older church members to doctors appointments, etc. Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband A.J. Totty, Jr.; her son Abner J. Totty, III; and her brothers and sisters, Syra Callen, Jack OGwynn, Robert OGwynn and Jean Bassett. She is survived by her daughter, Syra Beth Puett; her grandchildren, Caryl John Dowd, Robert Terri Puett, and Geoffrey Linda Robson Puett; two great-granddaughters, Juliana and Mariana Dowd; three nieces and one nephew. Private interment will be held at Fort Sam Houston National . |
