Obituary: Doris Ann Toney Beloved mother and grandmother Doris Ann Toney passed away and went to be with her loving husband Raymond , 1st, 2013. Doris was born in Redfield, South Dakota on 23rd, 1926 and moved to Yakima, WA 1946 with her family of 12 to work in the fruit industry. The family lived at the Ahtanum Farm Labor Camp where she met the love of her life, Raymond Toney. were married on 21st, 1948 in Yakima. In 1955 Ray & Doris moved to southern Oregon for a brief time but returned to Yakima after a year where they bought the family home on Wide Hollow Road. Doris worked in the fruit industry packing apples. Ray and Doris had two boys Stanley born on 16th, 1949 and Kenneth born on 2nd, 1955. Doris started and was a leader of the Harwood steaders 4H Club in the early 1960's where she helped youngsters develop the understanding and value of caring for animals. In 1974 Doris started an upholstery business recovering furniture for countless people in the Yakima Valley which continued for 25 years until she was diagnosed with a heart condition. a five-way heart bypass she was forced to sell her business. She continued her love of sewing creating many beautiful quilts that she gave to family members which they have today as treasured keepsakes. retiring Doris started a weekly gathering at her home hosting "Tea at Toneys 10 o'clock " for her beloved friends. Doris was an active member of the West Valley Missionary Church for over 60 years and participated in the Women's Missionary Guild. Doris is survived by her sons Stanley and wife Carol of Evans Georgia. Her grandson Brian and great grandsons Simon & Nolan; and son Kenneth of Yakima with granddaughters Leah & Elise. Her surviving sisters are Faye Sprecker (Fred), Reva Stitsworth, and Pat Wangler (Ike). Doris was preceded in death by her husband Ray, mother Bernice, father Ross, three sisters and three brothers. The family wishes to thank the members of West Valley Missionary Church for their unwavering fellowship, the wonderful caregivers at Shephards Gate Assisted Living and the Hospice Staff at Yakima Regional Medical for the kind and loving care they extended through her time of need. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM , 11th at The West Valley Missionary Church, 11107 Wide Hollow Road. Keith and Keith home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
