Obituary: William Chilly Taylor was born on 20, 1956 to William and Gladys Taylor. His siblings are Patricia, Christy, Sandra, and Jimmy. were a military family and moved around a lot before settling back down in Portland, Oregon. Chilly graduated from Benson Polytechnic in 1974. graduating from high school, Chilly joined the Army where he served as a military police officer. Chilly was discharged from the military, he had many jobs including correctional officer, bartender, letter carrier, and other pursuits. Chilly worked for the US Postal Service for 20 years. While working there, he got his nickname Chilly and met his beautiful wife Lola. Between the two of them, they raised 5 children: Billy, Jodi, Bryan, Karen and Zack. Chilly had many hobbies and passions during his life and through those he gained many friends. He played catcher in baseball in his youth, and when he could no longer play the game he loved, he turned to coaching. He coached all three of his sons along with many of their friends in baseball, and instilled in them his love for the game. Chilly also played softball as an adult, where he received many raspberries and injuries. During one tournament, he received 17 stitches in his knee. Despite his doctors orders, he took to the field the following weekend to support his team. Chilly loved to be involved with any type of sport. He even loved to watch his two granddaughters play soccer, even though he called it a communist sport. He tried to see every one of his grandsons football games and would often brag about all of his 8 grandchildren. Chilly enjoyed bowling and was on several teams with Lola. He would bowl in charity events and tournaments, and he even ran a tournament in Arizona for a while. He enjoyed watching his beloved Chicago Bears and Cubs play on TV, and he got a chance to see the Bears play the 49ers a couple of years ago with his youngest son, Zack. Chilly befriended everyone he met and had a lifelong love for children. He showed this love through countless hours volunteering for Portland Toy & Joy, and as a baseball coach and umpire. The time that he devoted to the kids he came in contact with had a lasting impact on their lives. He always had a big heart when it came to kids. Obituary: WILLIAM BILL HOWARD TAYLOR 29, 1922 ~ 8, 2014 William Bill Howard Taylor of Vancouver, WA, passed away at the age of 92 at the Veterans Community Living in Vancouver. Bill was born in Lassalle, Colorado. He moved to Vancouver in the mid 40s where he met the love of his life, Virginia Kitchell. were married in 1946 and remained married for 64 years until her death in 2011. Bill joined the army in 1942 and became a tank commander with the 779th tank battalion and fought in WWII where he received a good conduct medal along with an overseas medal. He would always tell you to the day how long he was in the military-3 years, 3 months and 20 days! When Bill left the military, he worked in the shipyards until 1946 when he started at Crown Zellerbach where he became president of the union and also participated in the standing committee. He retired from CZ in 1984. In his younger years, he loved to fish and hunt; as he grew older, he had a huge manicured garden that he loved to share with all! Bill is survived by his children: Mike (Sandy), Linda (Pat), Ellen (George), Julie (Gary), Patti (Ira); 11 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on , 15th, 2014, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of Life will be held following the service at the family home.
