Obituary: Cpl. Darl Lane Taylor was born in 1923 in Bristol, Washington near Cle Elum. Darl grew up as the youngest son to Guy and Ethel Taylor, and his older brother Astor (Bat) Taylor. He spent his early years growing up in the Teanaway, a logging community near Cle Elum. The family moved to Ellensburg in 1930 where Darl started school and participated in track in field, running the 800 meter race and ran in the championships his senior year. He then graduated from Ellensburg High in 1942. In the fall of 1942, while attending Central Washington University, he enlisted in the Army and was placed in the reserves. In the spring of 1943, he was called for active duty on his birthday 16th, 1943. He began his journey in the army in Fort Knox, Kentucky where he was trained as a tank driver. In 1943, he was sent to the city college in New York by the army due to his high scores on academic tests. He was then transferred to Fort Brag, North Carolina to a replacement battalion and was later called overseas in 1944 to Southampton, England where he then served 18 months in the 82nd airborne 325th glider infantry H.Q. Co. 2nd Battalion. Darl was discharged from overseas with an honorable discharge on 11, 1946 where he returned to Ellensburg, Washington to continue at Central Washington University where he received his bachelors degree in business education and masters degree in business administration . And, where he met the love of his life E. Marjorie Hanson. met in English class in 1946 where they dated for two years before getting married on 18, 1948. Shortly after completing their bachelors and masters degree, they moved to Cle Elum in 1949, where Darl and Marj accepted teaching positions. Darl spent five years teaching in Cle Elum. the birth of their twin sons Kevin and Craig in 1954 they moved to Yakima where he spent 25 years teaching at the grade school level, then junior high school and finally at Eisenhower and Davis high schools. Darl taught business and economics, business math, U.S history, and typing. Their third son Keith was born in 1960. many years of teaching, Darl decided to put his teaching knowledge into a business. Darl bought and successfully operated Baskin-Robbins in 1979 and was giving the opportunity to have a second location in 1981, both located in Yakima. He spent 14 years in the business where his wife Marj would help manage the store and his son Keith would help on occasion. Darl passed his business sense to his youngest son Keith, where he eventually helped with the opening of Java Heaven coffee bar in Yakima in 1995, and opening a second in 2001. Darl would come every day to not only enjoy his sons company, but to help with everyday errands for the business. and of course sitting down with his hot cocoa and whipped cream! Darl and his wife Marj enjoyed traveling. traveled in the states and to the Caribbean and Europe many times. In 1994, they traveled with a group of retired veterans and their families to Europe to the battle fields where Darl and his comrades had fought. Their last visit was to Berlin where Darl had ended his European army duty. Darl enjoyed traveling to his war reunions every year around the states with friends and family. His son Kevin also participated in traveling with them many times and was able to take Darl to one of his last war reunions in 2009. Darl also had an appreciation for sports, where he passed on to his granddaughter Shanik her love of running and basketball and was her number one fan at every home game at Eisenhower High School. His wife E. Marjorie Taylor preceded him in death in 2008. Darl is survived by his Son Kevin and wife Roli Taylor of Utah, Craig Taylor of Georgia, and Keith and wife Mayra Taylor of Yakima. His five grandchildren Cariessa, Jared, Justin, Matthew, and Shanik. And one great grandchild Devvynne. To the end, Darl was a kind and generous man full of knowledge but always witty with a sense of humor. He left a mark on this earth and was loved by so many that knew him. You couldn help but smile after you met him. He will be missed. We love you, always and forever. |

Obituary: Dr. Daniel Miles Taylor, D.D.S, M.S.D., passed away the 11th of 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and children. Dan was born in Long Beach, California on 7, 1950 and was the oldest of four children belonging to Dr. Louis G. and Dorothy Taylor. As a young man, he excelled in sports, and academics, both of which would lead him to success in life. He completed an undergraduate degree while becoming a two-time Academic All-American playing football for Brigham Young University. marrying Cynthia Holbrook in Los Angeles, CA the 27th of 1974, Dan completed the Dental program at the University of Southern California, followed by the Orthodontic program at the University of Washington. Dan and his family settled near Snohomish, WA where he practiced orthodontics and involved himself in the community. He became president of the Washington State Society of Orthodontics, a member of the American Board of Orthodontics, a member of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists, and an adjunct professor of Orthodontics at the University of Washington. Following his retirement, he and Cindy visited their children making enough memories to last a lifetime. He enjoyed snow skiing, stamp collecting, snorkeling off the beaches in Hawaii, but most of all spending time with his family. A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Dan served a two-year mission to Taiwan as a young man. He would go on to serve in many church service and leadership capacities, inviting people to believe in Jesus Christ. All those who knew him will miss his patient, kind demeanor, quiet dignity, capacity for action, disciplined approach, and congenial sense of humor. Daniel is survived by his wife Cynthia, his children; Andrew, Amy, Ann Marie, Christine, Michelle, and Juliana; his mother Dorothy, his siblings; Steven Larkin, Andrew, Suzanne, and David; and his twenty grandchildren. A viewing will be held from 7-9 pm on evening 15th of at Bauer Chapel, 701 First Street in Snohomish WA. Services will continue with a viewing on 9:30 am on the 16th of , followed by the funeral at 11:00 am. services will take place at the Everett Stake located at 9509 19th Avenue SE, Everett WA. Internment will take place immediately following at Evergreen 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA. |
