Obituary: Lawrence LT Elwood Tyree, 84, of Harrisonburg, went to be with our Lord and Savior on , 12, 2011. He was born on 12, 1926 in Fairfield, VA and was the son of the late Lewis Tyree, Sr. and Margaret Clark Tyree. LT lived in the Harrisonburg area for the past 22 years. He was owner and operator of Tyrees Rug Service for over 35 years in Norfolk. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a lover of nature and enjoyed target shooting. He was a member of the NRA and had been a Mason for over 35 years. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 22 years, Betty Styron Tyree, whom he married in 1989. He is also survived by his daughter, Andrea Sullivan and her husband, RJ of Norfolk; numerous nieces and nephews and other loving friends. He was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 PM, , 19, 2011 at the Chapel of Lindsey s and Crematory with Pastor Roger Dove officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Smile Train, P.O. Box 96211, Washington, DC, 20090-6211, or by visiting their website www.smiletrain.org. Obituary: Joyce Woodson Tyree, 76, formerly of Madison Heights, passed away , May 3, 2015 at her daughters home in Appomattox. She was the wife of the late Clarence Herman Tyree. Born 25, 1938 in Charlottesville, she was the daughter of the late James Roy and Ruth Ballowe Woodson and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Arrington Kidd; a step-son, Don Tyree; a brother, Cecil Woodson, and a half- brother, James R. Woodson, Jr. She was a retired seamstress with Madison Garments. Joyce enjoyed country music and played the guitar. She also loved singing and enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Tyree is survived by a son, Tommy Eagle and Debby Farish of Rustburg; four daughters, Karen Vaughan and husband Tony of Lynchburg, Brenda Allen and husband Randy of Goodview, Annette Mays of Madison Heights, and Janet Jones and husband J.T. of Appomattox; step-son Gregg Tyree of Madison Heights; two sisters, Signora Dalton and Cassie Stewart, both of Lynchburg; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on , May 6, 2015 at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today, , May 5, 2015 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at the home of her daughter, Karen, 229 Alta Lane, Lynchburg. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Gentle Shepherd Hospice and to Marilyn and Tammy for their excellent care during Joyces illness. |
