Obituary: Catherine Martin Tyree, 61, of Lynchburg, passed away , 9, 2016 at her residence. She is survived by her devoted husband of thirty-seven years, Larry Wayne Tyree. Born 1, 1955 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Willie Ray and Alice Coleman Martin. She was a former employee of Hickory Farms and was a member of Jordan Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, Cathy is survived by three children, Mary Beth Overstreet and husband Ryan of Bedford, William Anderson Tyree and wife Joy of Madison Heights, and Charity Lynn Peters and husband Pete of Madison Heights; one sister, Alice Rae Foster and husband Ed of Lynchburg and five grandchildren, Allie Tyree, Glenn Trace Peters III, Anderson Tyree, Grace Peters, and Alex Tyree and other family members and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., , 12, 2016 at Jordan Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Melvin Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Obituary: Carlton Junior (Pedy) Tyree, 58, of Amherst, passed away , 30, 2015 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Frances Horton Tyree. Born 19, 1956 in Lynchburg, he was the son of Bennie Cartlon Tyree of Amherst and the late Christine Burks Tyree and was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Wayne Tyree. He was retired from Aerofin Corp. and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He loved farming and his family and assured them of his home going to be in heaven to be with reunited with family waiting for him there. In addition to his wife and father, Carlton is survived by three children, Patricia Lloyd and husband Joe of Monroe, Angela Wood and husband James of Madison ehights, and Jason Tyree and wife Melinda of Verona; one sister, Kelly Seitz and husband Donnie of Amherst and fifteen grandchildren, Logan Rogers, Kaitlyn Wood, Ashtyn Shupe, Nathan Wood, Traman Rogers, Tristan Tyree, Haleigh Tyree, Mackenzie Tyree, Ryleigh Lloyd, Candis Lloyd, Joseph Lloyd, III, Jason Tyree, Jr., Lyrick Roseboom, Ashlynn Childs, and Isa Bella Childs. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., , 2, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Nathan Weidman officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Obituary: Ruth Ownby Tyo, a longtime resident of Ashland, Virginia, passed away peacefully on , 23rd surrounded by family members. She is survived by her 2 loving daughters and their families, her brother, Lawrence Ownby and his family, and many other Ownby descendants. Ruth was born and raised in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. graduating from high school, she went to work at the Tennessee Eastman in Oakridge. Towards the end of WW2, Ruth headed west to California where she met and wed Gerald Tyo and raised her family. She owned and operated La Red Swan Beauty Salon for many years in Northern California. During that time she secured a home built in 1857 in Ashland, Virginia for her parents, Lawrence and Katie Ownby. opened it as a boarding house. Eventually, Ruth moved to Ashland to help them run the boarding house until they passed away. She continued on as owner and operator of the boarding house on South Street to age 92. She was frequently seen on her porch swing greeting people and watching the trains go by. The family will receive friends from 2-4pm on , 27, 2016 at the Nelsen , Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA 23005, where a service will take place at 1pm on , 28, 2016. Interment will be at Woodland in Ashland, VA. |
