Obituary: Flavius S. Tworek entered into eternal life on 2, 2016. He was born 24, 1921 in Duncan, Nebraska to the late John and Mary Tworek. He was a retired Chief Warrant Officer, W-4, with an extensive Naval er. A veteran of WWII (present at the bombing of Pearl Harbor), he held the following decorations: American Defense, American Campaign, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, good Conduct, WWII Victory, Navy Occupation Service, National Defense Service and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He was also in the service during the Korean and Vietnam Campaigns. He loved fishing, bowling, gardening and singing in the church choir. He is survived by his four daughters, Catherine Cathy Bartlett of Lansing, MI, Laura Heffner (Robert) of Virginia Beach, Margaret Ingalls (James) of Celina, TX and Charlotte Rivera of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Angeline Slovinski and Teresa Schwank and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Fitch Tworek; sisters, Minnie Tworek, Emily Bowles, Lucia Placzek, Rose Kusek and brothers, Leo, Steve and Alvin. There will be a service conducted at 11am, at Kellum with a one hour visitation prior to the service starting at 10am. Burial will be conducted at 1pm in Hampton National with full US Navy military honors to be rendered. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Obituary: Robert William Bobby Twisdale, 71, of Lynchburg passed away , 4, 2014 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. Born in Crozet, 27, 1942 he was the only son of the late John William Twisdale and Marie McAllister Twisdale. Bobby was retired from the Lynchburg Foundry after 35 years of service. He also along with his wife was the owner and operator of Slicks Café in Madison Heights for 28 years and he was a member of Fairview Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Gibson Twisdale of Lynchburg; one son, Jason Scott Twisdale of Lynchburg; two daughters, Toni Nelson and husband Tracy of Cedar Creek, TX and Deborah Mays of Madison Heights; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. , 8, 2014 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to either the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association. |
