Obituary: Evelyn Fay Tredway, passed away on , 13, 2014. She was born in Richmond, Va., on 8, 1946 and was predeceased by her parents, George and Julia Tredway; and her sister, Carol Tredway Throckmorton. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Wilson "Billy' Throckmorton of Wicomico Church, Va.; her niece, Laura Gauntt (Charles) of Mechanicsville, Va.; her nephew, Gary Throckmorton (Caroll) of White Stone, Va.; her great nieces and nephews, Katrina and Garrett Gauntt of Mechanicsville, Wilson and Parker Throckmorton of White Stone; aunt, Betty Dean Dise; uncle, Gerald Wheatley of Tangier, Va.; brother-in-law, Robert Throckmorton (Donna) of Mechanicsville; and many cousins on Tangier Island. Evelyn was a graduate of Hermitage High School and graduated from VCU in 1969 with a degree in education. She was a teacher for Henrico Schools for 30 years. She first taught 5th graders in Highland Springs and then in the fall of 1979, when John Rolfe Middle School opened, she taught science until her retirement. Visiting with former students and fellow teachers warmed her heart. Auntie, as her nieces and nephews called her, loved her family dearley and enjoyed spending time with her sister in Wicomico Church. In her retirement, she also enjoyed cruising with her brother-in-law and sister in Florida. Key West, Bahamas, New York and Maine. Her favorite holiday was Christmas when she would help her sister decorate and organize for the festivities. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses in ICU at St. Mary's for the care and compassion that Evelyn received. The family will receive visitors on , 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody , 1771 N. Parham Rd. A funeral service will be held on , 17 at 12 noon at the Chapel Mausoleum at Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Ave., Richmond, Va. 23238. Obituary: Francis Keith Treaster, affectionately known as Keiky Weiky, passed away peacefully after a lifelong illness at his home on 1, 2015. His Momma and his Bubba were at his side. He was the son of Frances and the late Clair E. Treaster, Sr. In addition to his DADDY, Clair E. Treaster, Sr. he was also predeceased by SISSY, Judy Price Treaster, and two very special friends, Louanne Emory and Mrs. Agnes Gould. Keith is survived by his devoted and loving mother, Frances Treaster; his brother, Clair Junie Treaster, Jr., both of Hopewell; two aunts Alice Walker and Mildred Pleasant and numerous cousins and friends. Born in Petersburg, VA, Keith lived all his life in Hopewell, VA. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Hopewell. His faith and trust in his Lord and savior, shone thru the way he lived and faced life each and every day. He exemplified his Christian witness with happiness, care, thoughtfulness and concern for others. Keith was a loving son, brother and friend to all. He was known and loved by so many and was a friend to everyone whom he had come in contact with through his life. The family will receive friends on evening, 3, 2015 at Memorial , 214 N. 6th Ave. in Hopewell from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The service to celebrate Keiths life will be , 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Vornov will officiate. He will be laid to rest beside his DADDY in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. Following the interment a reception for family and friends will be at The Optimist Club on Lynchburg St. in Hopewell. Keiths family would like to thank Christine Thomas, his nurses aide for the loving and compassionate care that she has afforded him. |

Obituary: Elsie Ward Ernst Treadwell, age 90, died on Oct. 20, 2014 in Irvington, Va. She was born in Saginaw, Mich., on Aug. 10, 1924. She lived in Grosse Ile and graduated from St. Mary Academy in Monroe, Mich. During the war, she served as a volunteer driver at the Naval Air Station in Grosse Ile. Her college years were spent at Duke, University of California, Berkeley, and graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles, where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. Elsie returned to Saginaw, where she taught in the public school and later worked for the telephone company. In 1951, she married Arthur Adams Ernst, an electronic engineer with the National Bureau of Standards. lived in Northern Virginia where she was a member of the Junior League. She served on the Board of the National Genealogical Society, was a Certified Genealogical Researcher and published several books. Besides her family, her love was horses and riding with the Orange Hunt in Middleburg. She worked on a farm in Great Falls, Va., where she raised jumpers and sheep, and taught riding. She was a true animal lover throughout her life. Following retirement, Elsie and Art moved to Mathews, where she and Chris Sheridan recorded all of the tombstones in the county. Their work, Tombstones of Mathews , was published by the Mathews Historical Society in 1988. Arthur died in 1989, and in 1995, Elsie married Captain Lawrence P. Treadwell Jr., USN-ret. returned to Mathews following a short time in Florida. In 2003, Elsie and Lawrence moved to Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury (RW-C), Irvington. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence; her son, Arthur Ace Ernst, M.D. (Jana); grandson, Adam; Larry, Chris and Elizabeth Treadwell, Amy Dick, Kadie Parsley and their families. A memorial service and reception will take place at RW-C on , Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. A graveside service will be held on , Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. in Christ Church , Mathews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ones favorite charity. Foster-Faulkner & Cremation Service is in charge of the arrangements. |

Obituary: Mary Evelyn Treadway was born in Callao, Missouri, on 20, 1923, the daughter of James Gesler Cook and Blanche Beaty Cook. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps Womens Reserve during World War II. She met her future husband of 65 years, Swithen Leo Roy Treadway, at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California, where she worked as a clerk and he served as an instructor. She later attended the University of Kansas City (Missouri), where she studied business administration. While her husband was employed with the Central Intelligence Agency, she raised four children. lived primarily in Vienna, Virginia, but also served two tours of duty-one in Athens, Greece, and one in the Panama Canal Zone. retirement, they moved to Shipman, Virginia, where they lived for almost 30 years. Mrs. Treadway was an avid genealogist, and she published two volumes of family history: Yelverton Payton, My Ancestor and John Morgan Andrews and His Descendants. Her other passions included gardening and traveling. She particularly enjoyed taking her grandchildren on trips throughout the United States. In more recent years, she liked playing dominos and bingo at the Charlottesville Senior . At home, she always had a jigsaw puzzle in the works, and she loved playing Skip-bo with her family. Mrs. Treadway died peacefully at her home in Charlottesville, Virginia, on , 12, 2017. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Monica Treadway Newby and her husband, John Newby, of Greenville, North Carolina; Cynthia Treadway Bailey and her husband, Steve Bailey, of Richmond, Virginia; Deborah Treadway Newby and her husband, Carl Newby, of Arlington, Virginia; and Edward Roy Treadway and his wife, Cindy Bryant Treadway, of Richmond, Virginia. In addition, she is survived by nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:30am on , 24 at Mullins and Thompson, Fredericksburg.
