Forever cherishing his memory is his wife of 53 years, Virginia Ginger Aycock Tumlinson; son Patrick Arthur Tumlinson, Jr, wife, Jane, of Jones Creek, Texas; and daughter, Dawn Tumlinson Brown, husband, Paul R. Brown,lll, of Independence, Texas; grandchildren, Kasey Renee Tumlinson, husband Eric Powell of Angleton, Texas; Dean Patrick Tumlinson, of Jones Creek, Texas; step-granddaughter, Whitney Evans, of Austin,Texas; great-grandson, Noah Patrick Austin, of Sweeny, Texas.; brothers Terry Hallmark, wife Lynda, of Houston, Texas; James D. Tumlinson of Florida, Cecil C.Tumlinson,wife Patricia, of Angleton,Texas; sister, Jean Jones,husband Robert of Oyster Creek, Texas and nieces and nephews. Pat was born 26, 1939 in San Benito, Texas, arriving in Camp Chemical with his parents in 1942. moved to Kyle Road on Oyster Creek in Clute, Texas, in 1944 where he attended Temple Baptist Church, was catcher in Little League baseball, attended Clute Elementary and Junior High, then Brazosport High School-playing and excelling in baseball and football. He was awarded the Sammy Baugh trophy for All-State guard position on BHS Exporter football team. Pat attended the University of Texas, on an athletic scholarship, playing offensive guard on their 1958 freshman team. He returned home to work for the Dow Chemical , beginning at the Dow Reservoir as a fishing guide and then in Mag lll dipping metal, and as Plant B union steward and then foreman in the Environmental department until retiring in 1995. He was recognized by Dow Chemical supervision with many awards for his innovative solutions over the years. Pat and Ginger were married in the First Presbyterian Church, Lake Jackson, Texas, 28, 1963. retiring, they enjoyed traveling and researching their ancestors as well. Both from pioneer families of Texas, Pats 4th great-grandmother Elizabeth Plemmons Tumlinson was the first woman to receive a land grant, ,1824, in Texas from the Mexican government some of which she donated the land for the city of Columbus to be built upon. (Husband, John Jackson Tumlinson, first Texas alcade, was killed in battle with Comanches around Seguin,Texas, 1823). Pat will be remembered for his generous and thoughtful spirit, lifetime love of fishing and hunting, salty and frank language, dry humor, strength and determination. He was so much his own man, speaking forthrightly, loving his family. The family will have a memorial celebration of Pats life in the early spring. May Gods blessings go with him, his family, friends and nation. |

Obituary: Leroy (Lee) Edward Tumlinson passed away on 21, 2014 at age 85. He was born on 30, 1928 in San Antonio Texas. He was the son of Clarence Arthur and Katherine Rhan Tumlinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jane Ennis Blackmon Tumlinson, son Patrick Robert Tumlinson and brother Clarence (Tommy) Tumlinson. Lee came from a pioneer Texas family. He was a descendant of one of the original settlers of the Stephen F. Austin 0300 Colony in Texas. His direct ancestors Captains John and Peter Tumlinson served as Texas Rangers in the 1800s. He was indirectly related to George Tumlinson, who fought and died in the battle of the Alamo in 1836. His maternal grandfather was the first pharmacist in Fredricksburg, Texas. Lee graduated from Brackenridge High School. During his high school years his contributions to the WWII war effort were recognized by a commendation from the Department of Navy. He was given the honorary rank of Commander Aircraftsman in recognition of his wartime service making scale model aircraft in accordance with specifications for use by the U.S. government. His prowess in baseball led to his playing professionally for the San Antonio Lions, the San Antonio Missions and the St. Louis Browns (now the St. Louis Cardinals). Carpentry was a family tradition, and he was taught by his father, who had helped build the Majestic Theater among many other accomplishments. a completing a formal program meeting the standards of the Federal Committee on Apprenticeship he became a licensed carpenter and general contractor. He eventually founded his own construction company. As owner and operator of The Tumlinson Construction , he was a prominent and respected general contractor, noted for his perfectionism and meticulous professional work. He also served as a licensed law enforcement officer. His first marriage was to Katherine Elizabeth Gavegan, mother of his three children: Deborah Lee, Patrick Robert and Michael Leroy Tumlinson. His second marriage was to Jane Ennis Blackmon, when he became the step-father of three sons: David, Stephen and Greg Mims. The couple was married for 47 years, and known for their humor, hospitality and loyalty to their family and friends. He built a home for his family with minimal help. He enjoyed caring for his home and grounds, and was a familiar and likeable presence in his neighborhood. Through his example and insistence, he instilled the qualities of integrity, high work ethic and standards of excellence in his children. Lee was devoted to his parents, wife, relatives and friends during their lives and after their deaths. Every he visited their graves at Sunset Memorial Park, and left cards on their birthdays. Lee is survived by his sister Catherine Catalani, daughter Deborah Lee Tumlinson, son Michael Leroy Tumlinson (Rosemarie), step-sons David Mims, Stephen Mims (Linda), Greg Mims (Susan), granddaughters Traci Marshall (Chris) and Amber Vasquez (Elio), step-grandchildren Matthew Mims (Christine), Samantha Mims and Jessica Davis (Mark), five step-great grandchildren, niece Shirley Ohmes (Joe), nephews Kenneth and Thomas Ray Tumlinson (Susan), Jeffrey and Alfonso Catalani, cousins Lawrence Rahn and Ann Rau, his former wife Katherine Riley, her daughter Shannon Riley Poss (Neil) and grandson Patrick Michael Stockton, friends Peter Wiechert and Edward Guerra, and many other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank Vicki Silvas for her forty years of faithful service and the Hollywood Park Police Department, Fire Department and EMS. Obituary: Evelyn Conrad Woods Tumlinson, who graced us with her love for 91 years, went home to the Lord after a long illness on , 6th, 2003, surrounded by her family. A lifelong Catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She was a Charter Member and President of the Santa Rosa WomenÂs Auxiliary, where she donated over 52, 000 hours of voluteer service. Mrs. Tumlinson organized and directed the Rosettes of Santa Rosa Hospital, the first junior volunteer organization in Texas. She traveled throughout the state, speaking on the importance of young people giving service back to their community. She was the first President of the MotherÂs Club at Incarnate Word High School and a member of the ParentÂs Club of Incarnate Word . She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Sultanas de Bejar and Our Lady of Grace Altar Society. The Late Bishop Steven A. Leven presented her with the National Council of Youth Award in recognition of her many years of service to the youth of the community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mary Anna Conrad, whose family was among the original settlers of Texas over 160 years ago; eleven brothers and sisters, her first husband, Charles D. Chuck Woods, one of her twin daughters, Jean Elizabeth Woods, her first granddaughter, Wendy Kay Jones. She is survived by her husband, Clarence A. Tommy Tumlinson; daughter, Kay Jones and husband, Ron of Lake Jackson, TX; daughter, Joan Turner and husband, Robert of San Antonio, Texas; step-sons, Thomas R.
