Obituary: Houston Police Officer, Jason Alan Tran, was born on May 20, 1972, in Saigon, Vietnam, to parents, Thuat and Loan Tran. On 28, 2015, Jason's journey on this earth ended from complications due to heart surgery, as he began his life in heaven with the Lord. He was forty-three. Jason attended Dobie High School, in Houston Texas, and graduated in 1990. Jason's passion to protect the public led him to become a Houston Police Officer in 1994 and he graduated with Cadet class 160. Jason served in various divisions throughout the department. He served in Westside Patrol, Fondren Tac, and S. Gessner Patrol. Jason served a total of twenty-one and a half years of exemplary service as a Houston Police Officer. Jason was a passionate police officer and known throughout the city as Buddha. He is regarded as a hard headed, fast charger, who not only policed but changed the lives of those whose paths he crossed. Buddha was not only respected on the streets but also within the four walls of the prison system as one who genuinely cared for people. He considered himself as one of the Godfathers of Southwest. Jason had passion for his career but what really drove him was the deep love he had for his family, friends and neighbors. Jason was a proud father of many children, biologically for three. Jason's oldest son, Jason Jr., 20; Jason's younger son, Jayden,5; and Jason's youngest daughter, Skylar, 19 months. He was also the unofficial adopted father of Tiara Williams, 14. Jason was known as a man of the community who called everybody family. Many people he adopted included the children of family, neighborhood kids, rookie officers he trained at work and the kids on the streets in his area of patrol. Jason loved all and was loved by many. The love Jason exuded stemmed from his favorite Bible verse, John 3:16, stating For God so loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life (HCSB). Jason did not live a perfect life; however, his heart was focused on living the life of the grace, mercy, and showing love towards others that knew that Christ lived and died for them. Anybody who knew Jason would tell you how much he loved hunting, fishing, karaoke, vacationing, volleyball, basketball, and of course football! It is still a running myth that the colors of silver and blue for the Dallas Cowboys was what ran through his veins. Jason's love for the Dallas Cowboys goes unmatched by many. Jason was an avid cook and was a master at the art of BBQ. Jason said in the hospital that when he meets Jesus he will pull out a grill and BBQ for Jesus! Jason is preceded in death by his grandparents Hanh and Manh Nguyen. The following relatives and friends are left to cherish his memories: his parents, Thuat and Loan Tran; his brother Johnny Tran; God-blood brothers Anthony Mcfarlon, Chauncey Mcfarlon, Anthony Campbell; God-sister Heather Campbell; beloved wife, best friend, and soul mate Silvia Jean Tran; oldest son, Jason Tran Jr.; oldest adopted daughter Tiara Williams; youngest son Jayden Tran and youngest daughter Skylar Tran. The Rosary Wake will be held, , 4th at 5:00-8:00pm and Rosary prayer at 7pm, at Forest Park located at 12800 Westheimer Rd. services will be held, , 5th at 10:00 am at Bethel Family Baptist Church at 12660 Sandpiper Dr., Houston, TX, 77004, followed with laying the body to rest at Forest Park . |
