Obituary: DALLAS --Josephine Pergament Tobolowsky, JoJo, as she was affectionately known to everyone, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away quietly on May 13, 2014. Born 7, 1920 in Atlanta, Georgia raised and educated in St. Louis, Missouri, JoJo graduated from Washington University School of as a registered nurse in 1941. Upon graduation, she moved to Dallas, Texas to take a job with the Texas Department of Public providing medical assistance to needy families throughout North Texas. In 1943, JoJo married the love of her life, Dallasite Jack Tobolowsky, a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army. Her greatest joy was raising their four children. A true Renaissance woman, JoJo loved reading, sculpting, photography, painting, knitting, traveling and writing. Her love of learning took her back to school to also earn degrees in English and Art History from North Texas University and SMU, followed by a career in residential real estate and teaching in DISD. JoJo was preceded in death by her parents Isadore and Jean Pergament, her sisters, Lola Pergament and Sylvia Felzer, and her beloved husband of 52 years, Jack Lehman Tobolowsky. She is survived by her loving children: Myra and Stuart Prescott, George and Julie Tobolowsky, Ira and Debbie Tobolowsky, and Dona and Terry Timm; her twelve grandchildren, each of whom she loved dearly: Matthew Prescott, Amy Prescott, Kathryn (Keith) Koshkin, Laura (Jonas) Swartz, Adam Tobolowsky, Robert Tobolowsky, Jonathan Tobolowsky, Michael Tobolowsky, Zachary Tobolowsky, Stacy (Patrick) Paddack, Marni (Scott) Berman, and Ted Stiffel; and her five great-grandchildren: Cody Paddack, Eli Paddack, Lilly Berman, Jackson Berman, and Jack Swartz. JoJo is also survived by adored sister-in-law Shirley Tobolowsky and nieces Jill Sherman, Hon. Judge Emily Tobolowsky and nephew Mark Tobey. Services will be held , May 16, 2014 at 10:00 am, Temple Emanu-El, 8500 Hillcrest Ave., Dallas, TX 75225. Interment will immediately follow at Sparkman Hillcrest . The family deeply appreciates all those who assisted JoJo in her later years, particularly Erin, Angela and the entire staff at Manchester Place and Vitas Hospice . Ever the artist, JoJo created a beautiful life. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. |
