Obituary: Virginia Naomi Gini Taute, age 86, of San Antonio, TX was welcomed into the LordÂs arms on 9, 2004. Born in Astoria, South Dakota, she was the daughter of Albert and Evangeline Chester. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brig. Gen. A. F. Gus Taute. She is survived by her children: F. Chip Taute, Jr. and his wife, Irma, of San Antonio and Annette Taute of San Antonio; grandson, F. Trae Taute, III of San Antonio; sister, Myrth Rae Brchan of Cottage Grove, MN; sister-in-law, Kay Chester of Brookings, SD, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Gini earned her teaching degree in Economics and Science from South Dakota State University. graduation, she married the love of her life, Gus Taute, and they embarked on a joyous and fruitful journey lasting 62 years. Together they shared a military career which took them to Peru, Japan, Norway, as well as numerous cities in the United States. became quite a team in hosting military functions. Gini was often praised by foreign dignitaries for her culinary and decorating skills. In addition, Gini was an accomplished golfer, winning many tournaments. Gini and Gus retired from the Air Force in 1972 and made San Antonio their home, becoming active in the community. Gini attended fiber art classes at Southwest Crafts and discovered a talent in designing and creating beautiful wall hangings. She was an inspiring artist and her works were exhibited numerous times at art shows in the area. Gini and Gus were active members of Oak Hills Country Club, Concordia Lutheran Church and Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. GiniÂs activities began to diminish when she was diagnosed with AlzheimerÂs disease. She has now joined our dad where they are both at peace in GodÂs house. Her family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the staffs of Air Force Village II Freedom House, Air Force Village I , and Odyssey Hospice for the loving care they exhibited to our beloved mother. Obituary: Brig. Gen. F. Taute, age 87, of San Antonio TX, went to be with the Lord on 16, 2004. Born in Tolley, ND, he was the son of Arthur and Andrea Taute. Gen. Taute retired in San Antonio after 37 years of service in the U. S. Air Force. He was a self-made man who was devoted to his wife and children. Gen. Taute received his education at South Dakota State in Brookings, SD. There he met Gini, the love of his life. embarked upon a military career that began when he completed pilot training at Kelly and Randolph, receiving his wings in 1939 and being assigned as pilot instructor at Randolph AFB. Gen. TauteÂs assignments were numerous. He was Squadron Commander at Victoria, TX from 1941-1944 and at Salina, KS. until 1947, and Okinawa, Japan until 1949. Air Command and Staff , he was the flight instructor at Ft. Bliss, TX. In 1953, he established and commanded the first Military Assistance Advisory Group in Lima, Peru until 1956, when he attended the Air War in Alabama. From 1957 through 1960, he was Commander of the Pre-Flight School at Lackland AFB, TX. For the next five years he served as Deputy Wing Commander at Webb AFB, TX. He served two years as Command Inspector General, Headquarters Air Defense Command, Ent AFB, CO. In 1968, he was assigned Chief Military Assistance Advisory Group, Oslo, Norway, a position that required him to travel extensively throughout Europe. Returning to the United States, he found himself back at Lackland AFB, where he was Vice Commander of the largest Air Force Training in the U.S. Air Force. His final assignment was as Chief of Staff, HQÂs Air Training Command, Randolph AFB, TX. He received the Legion of Merit Award, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Army Occupation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Gen. Taute and his wife retired in San Antonio, the city in which he began and ended his military career in 1972. built a home at Oak Hills Village and became involved in the community. were members of Oak Hills Country Club, where Gen Taute continued his life of accomplishments. He and Gini were active members of Concordia Lutheran Church and, in their later years, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Virginia N. Taute; children, F. Chip Taute, Jr. and his wife, Irma of San Antonio, Annette Taute of San Antonio; grandson, F. Trae Taute, III of San Antonio; and sisters, Vivian Arshem and Erma Arshem and husband, Art of Sioux Falls, SD, as well as numerous relatives, nephews and nieces. E.D. was born May 12, 1935 in Central, Alabama to Curtis Taunton and Zelma Colley Wingard. He attended school until the sixth grade, then served honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 2, 1955 to 1, 1959, and then worked in Civil Service at Goodfellow Air Force Base serving as the Commissary Foreman retiring in 1984. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (4th Degree) Council #2136. He enjoyed devoting his time to charities and was the Director of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Outreach for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing and hunting, and was a very humorous person with family and friends. He loved going to coffee with all of his coffee buddies. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Reggie Taunton, his sisters Gloria McClain and Marsh Gandy, and half-brother William Woods, all of Alabama; and half-brother Lohn Taunton and half-sister Lois Smith of Georgia. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Florinda Taunton, two daughters: Terry Ann Pritchard and husband Dennis, and Kathleen Taunton and three sons: Edward Taunton and wife Raquel, Thomas Taunton, and Erik Taunton and wife Brook, all of San Angelo; grandchildren: Brian, Laura and Jessica Pritchard, Paige Smith, Elgin Taunton, Amanda and Emily Rodriguez, and Logan, Kade and Kailyn Taunton; and great-grandchildren: Hunter, Donovahn and Holden. Pallbearers will be Edward Taunton, Thomas Taunton, Erik Taunton, Dennis Pritchard, Elgin Taunton, and Kade Taunton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gerald Toole, Leonard Sanchez, Rueben Martinez, Ricky Cruz, Ben Cruz, Michael Hernandez, and Tommy Kiser.
