Obituary: Charles Lee Tackett born 3, 1927 in San Antonio, Texas went to be with the Lord on 26, 2015 at the age of 87. Charles is preceded in death by his parents Emmett and Ella Mae Tackett and sisters Ruth Ann Bell and Mary Nell Tackett. Charles is survived by his loving wife Jean Tackett. Charles graduated from Brackenridge Highschool and served honorably in the United States Navy in World War II from 1945 to 1947, recieving the Victory Medal during his service. Charles enjoyed spending time with his grand children and great grandchildren, he was a good Grandfather. Charles was a college sports fan and enjoyed gardening and after his retirement him and Jean enjoyed traveling. He will be greatly missed by all. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. , May 11, 2015 with military honors at Fort Sam Houston National . |

Obituary: Calvin William Tackett Calvin William Tackett, age 93, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on 17, 2016 at Sunrise Senior Living in southwest Fort Worth. Calvin was born to Forra Hill and Thomas Rayburn Tackett in Brookston Texas on May 22, 1922. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Erline Harwell Tackett. He is survived by his wife Hazel (Pike) Tackett, two sons; Calvin Jr. of Rowlett, Texas; and Thomas Arthur of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters Nina Ragan of Van Wert, Ohio; Jo Chapman of Fort Worth, Texas; Dolores Vanderslice of Longview, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calvin left the farm in east Texas as WWII approached and enlisted in the army in of 1940. The Fifth Calvary Regiment still used horses and he remembered being thrown by his horse four times one morning. obtaining the rank of sergeant, he applied for OCC and was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant and assigned to the 13th Armored Division. saw action in Germany in the early part of 1945 and then returned to the states to train for the invasion of Japan. the war ended he returned to Germany as part of the Army of Occupation. He was discharged in of 1947, and moved to Longview, Texas where his parents had relocated. Calvin made good use of the GI Bill. He earned his GED and then an associate's degree from Kilgore Junior . While attending Kilgore he met and married Erline Harwell of Abbott, Texas, who was teaching school in Gladewater. were married in May 1948. He then attended UT Austin and earned a bachelor and masters of arts in Psychology. While doing so he served in the Army Reserves where he obtained the rank of Captain. UT, Calvin went to work for Warner Chilcott Laboratories (now Phizer) in Houston. While in Houston, Erline came down with Polio and from then on was confined to a wheelchair. moved to Fort Worth in 1956 to be near some of her family. As a pharmaceutical representative, he called upon many of the doctors in Fort Worth and in the small towns in west central Texas until his retirement in 1984. Calvin was a charter member of Genesis United Methodist Church where he taught a school class for many years. retirement he turned an interest in the histories of our US presidents into a class that he taught at TCJC South Campus in the Senior Ed Program. In 1990 he was honored as Volunteer of the Year at the south campus for his service as director of that program. Calvin's hobbies included reading, history, travel, and genealogy. He made many trips in pursuit of compiling a genealogical history of his and Erline's family. Erline's passing he learned to dance. In 1998, he met Hazel Pike at a church function. found they had a lot in common including a love of dancing and were married that . made many trips to visit relatives. One of their favorite destinations was Branson, MO. also attended as many senior dances as they could and at one time were members of the Petroleum Club and the Elk's Lodge. The family would like to thank the many kind staff at Sunrise Senior Living. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or your favorite charity. |

Obituary: Ralph Murle Tacker was born on 3, 1928. He resided at 1214 Williamsburg Drive, Nacogdoches, Texas. He entered heavens gates on 26, 2017, surrounded by his wife, Wanda Tacker and his loving family and friends. Born in Dallas, Texas, Ralph Tacker was the son of Ralph Waldo Tacker and Dora Alice Goodman Tacker. He survived his only older sister, Alice Ivelle Perrone. Ralph married his beautiful wife Wanda Blakley in 1948. He said he loved her the first minute he saw her. were sweethearts for 69 years. Ralph served as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force Reserve from 1950-54. He attended the University of Arlington, studying drafting and architecture. Ralph began his great adventure by starting his own construction company in 1956 with Wanda at his side as his accountant. took a dream and uilt it into a reality. His success in his field was remarkable-he was a top dealer for Armco Steel and built hundreds of schools, churches and commercial buildings. He retired and began a career as a volunteer missionary with the Southern Baptist Radio-Television Commission. He traveled to China with the Singing Churchmen on one of the first Christian missions to go to Communist China. Ralph loved Jesus and his family first. His daughters, Julie Barrier and Kathy Wright were his greatest joy. He was always proud of them and told them so. His encouragement and sacrificial generosity extended to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ralph and Wanda provided the resources for the education of every child and grandchild. The godly couple said, All we have is the Lords anyway. meant it. He was a deacon at his church and befriended every pastor he ever had. Ralph Tacker was a renaissance man. He loved to fish, hunt and travel. The consummate artist, he painted prolifically and effortlessly. When he lost his right field vision to a debilitating stroke, he took up computer graphic design and pottery. He studied pottery at The New York State of Ceramics at Alfred University, Northlake University in Irving, Texas and Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas. He helped construct a pottery kiln for Professor Piero Fenci, Fine Arts Department at Stephen F. Austin. Poppa, as many family and friends knew him, gave of himself to encourage those around him and point them to Jesus. Despite many serious health crises he always fought the good fight and came back to love and support his family and serve his Lord selflessly. He was a mighty prayer warrior faithfully lifting up those people and needs that were near to his heart. And Poppa's was always ready to fill a need when he saw one. He always considered others more important than himself. Ralph is survived by Wanda, his adoring wife of 67+ years, his daughter Julie Tacker Barrier of Frisco, Texas, and her husband Roger; his daughter Kathy Tacker Wright of Nacogdoches, Texas, and her husband Bud; grandchildren Brianna Barrier Weatherbee, and her husband Brad; Bronwyn Barrier Muenckler, and her husband Rickey; Steele Wright, IV, Emily Wright Evans, and her husband Josh; Ben Wright, and his wife Jordan; great grandchildren Whit Evans, Jackson and Blakely Wright, and Abigail and Emmeline Weatherbee. The family is so very grateful to Dr. Carl Davis who faithfully quarterbacked Poppa's healthcare, as well as Dr. Blaize Ferracio, and Dr. Josephine Chua. The celebration of his life will be held on , 28 at 4:00 p.m. Grace Bible Church, 2305 Raguet Street, Nacogdoches, Texas, 75965, with Dr. Roger Barrier officiating.
