Obituary: Benny Ray Tyler, 80, went home to his Lord and Savior on 17, 2015 after a battle with Alzheimers disease with his loving family by his side. Benny was dearly loved and known for his fun-loving personality, his protective love of his family and his character. He always put his Lord and his family first and did not forget his love of either throughout his struggles. Benny was born 11, 1934 in Springhill, LA as the fourth son to George and Irene Tyler. He grew up modestly which contributed to his drive to work hard. Benny believed in education. This drive to be educated and succeed was made possible by his abilities on the football field of Springhilll High and then on to Tulane University on a full scholarship. In 1960, he signed to the Patriots, but his promising career came to a halt due to a serious leg injury. He began his marketing career at Texaco shortly thereafter and retired after 34 years. It was Texaco that brought him to Memphis where he met and married the love of his life, Gail Gurner Tyler. Benny leaves his wife, Gail, his three daughters, Jane Tyler, Allison Dawson (Bob) and Betsy Hale (Philip) and seven grandchildren, Rachael and Connor Dawson and Tyler, Kaitlin, Emily, Will and Ben Hale who will miss their Paw Paw. The family would like to thank the staff at Page Robbins and Baptist Reynolds Hospice House for their care of Benny and their support and comfort to the family. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. , 19th, with the funeral following at 2:00 p.m. at Memphis , 5599 Poplar Ave |

Obituary: David McAllister Tyer, Sr., went to be with the Lord on , 16, 2015. He was 67 years old. David was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He graduated from Brainerd High School and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He was a very kind and gentle man. David spent the past five years of his life caring for his wife, Amelia, as she battled a terminal illness. David enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, setting up tracks for his slot cars and Lionel trains. He loved to share his hobbies with his son, granddaughter, cousins, nieces and nephews. David helped create lasting memories for his family which brings us great comfort. He was affectionately known as Da by his granddaughter. He was a big kid in his heart. We will all miss him, every day for the rest of our lives He was preceded in death by his parents, David Henry Tyer and Julia McAllister Tyer and his loving wife of 37 years, Amelia Love Tyer. David is survived by his son, David McAllister Tyer, Jr., two sisters, Kay Tyer Hartung, Ann Tyer Waddey, and one granddaughter, the true joy of his life, Shannon Amelia Tyer. Obituary: Amelia Love Tyer, age 65 of East Ridge, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on 14, 2015 following a brave and lengthy battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in Locust, NC. Amelia was born in Johnson City, TN to the late John and Myrtle Love. Amelia was one of a kind and will be remembered for her unique, personality. She never met a stranger and always enjoyed a conversation with anyone, anywhere, anytime. She also loved tending her plants and gardening. She had a generosity of spirit with her husband, son and grandchildren that will be dearly missed. She was affectionately known as La-te-da by her grandchildren. Amelia was retired in 2002 from the real estate business and was a lifelong member of Downtown Christian Church, Johnson City, Tn. She was a wonderful mother, wife, and an extraordinary friend. She was given only a few months to live five yrs. ago. Her bravery and unending hope will always serve as an exceptional example of how to face a terminal illness with grace and determination. The loss of Amelia has left a hole in all of our hearts. She will be missed, everyday. Amelia is survived by her devoted husband, of 37 yrs., David M. Tyer; son, David M. (Elvira) Tyer, Jr.; grandchildren, Shannon Amelia Tyer and Joshua Rodrigueza Tyer; sisters, Robin (Jeff) West, Linda Love, and Melissa Love; brother, Steven (Debbie) Love; step-brothers, David (Vivian) Mayer and Tim (Debbie) Mayer A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on , 17, 2015 at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, with Bro. Jeff West officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on at Wilson -Wallis Stewart Chapel Ringgold, Georgia.
