Born 30, 1930 in Giles , Tennessee, he was the son of the late Webster W. Thurman and Annie Mai Foster Thurman. For thirty-four years he owned and operated Thurman Trucking. He was an excellent mechanic who could drive and fix anything. Mr. Thurman was a member of Northview Church of Christ. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife whom he married 14, 1949, Jean Reeves Thurman of Columbia; daughter, Judy Thurman (Terry) McCaleb of Columbia; son, Randal Foster Thurman of Columbia; special great grandson they helped rear, Brent McCaleb; grandchildren, Tim McCaleb, Jason (Dawn) McCaleb, Gabriel (Sherry) Hay, David Thurman, and Eric Thurman; eighteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Laverna Boatright; brothers, Wilkins Thurman, Billy Thurman, Clayton Buck Thurman, and Morris Thurman. Active pallbearers are Tim McCaleb, Jason McCaleb, David Thurman, Eric Thurman, Carlton Thurman, and James Berry. Honorary pallbearers include his life-long fellow truck drivers. Obituary: THURMAN, Anthony Tony Leon Age 51 of Lebanon and Nashville. 11, 2015. Anthony Tony Leon Thurman was a wonderful Christmas gift from God when he was born in Nashville, Tennessee on 15 in 1963 to his loving parents Carl and Reba. He went on to enjoy living and working in Lebanon, Tennessee. Tony was an avid sports fan; he loved sports, especially racing! By trade Tony was a master mechanic. He was good at fixing things. He loved his work and helping people when their vehicles were down or when they needed maintenance or repairs. He was very accomplished at automotive repair and went on to operate his own automotive repair business. Tony loved all of his family, friends and customers. He was a good son, brother, and son-in-law. He had many accomplishments. But, possibly his greatest accomplishment in life was being, not only a good husband to his loving wife Cindy, but the kind of loving and caring father that he was to their two children, and their grandchildren. He was always there for them and gave them an ear to listen with unconditional love and time. Last Christmas, Tony brought home a special live Christmas tree that he had procured in a special deal as an exciting gift to Cindy, their children and grandchildren; a tree that he had to make several strategic cuts on to make it fit into the house. several major cuts and some special engineering, he finally got it inside where he and Cindy made it look amazingly beautiful for their whole family to enjoy! Tony had no idea that it would be one of his last holidays with his family on earth. Holidays were an exciting time for Tony and his family; he always wanted them to be special. However, he wanted this one in particular to be one of the best! We must all remember how much love and friendship that he gave to other people; how truly short life can be. We must, each one of us, continue or start, a tradition of caring for each other and always showing our family and friends how much we love them and care for them, as Jesus would have us to do for each other. Tony passed on suddenly in his sleep on 11, 2015 at the age of 51; in the Wilson home that he loved, near his beloved wife Cindy. All of Tonys family, friends, and even his animals will continue to grieve his absence from us. But, we are all thankful to God that we were blessed to have known him and had him in our lives. Left to cherish his memory: his wife, Cindy; Children: Sara, Tim; Grandchildren: Hailey, Hannah; father, Carl (Irene); siblings: Philip (Phyllis), Roger, Vicky; family, and many friends. Originally from Nathalie, VA, Joelene made the Washington, DC area home for nearly 40 years, working as a List Clerk in the Periodical Department of the Review and Herald Publishing Association owned by the Seventh-Day Adventist church. She and her husband retired to Greeneville in 1998 to assist her sister, Nancy, in caring for their aging father. Joelene and husband Malcolm volunteered many hours weekly for the Greeneville Seventh-Day Adventist Church Community Services . She is survived by her husband: Malcolm Thurlow; her daughter and son-in-law: Deborah Thurlow and Ricardo Cabrera; her step-grandson, David Cabrera; her sister: Nancy Stevens Blankenship; her niece and nephew: Brenda and Kenneth Ray; and her great-nephews: Trace and Jason Ray. A memorial service will be held at the Kiser-Rose Hill at 2 p.m. , 23. Immediately after the service, there will be a receiving of friends at the Greeneville Seventh-day Adventist Church Fellowship Hall.
