Obituary: On 25, 2015, Margaret Linea Taisey, 87, passed away peacefully in her home of 55 years. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Ellen Bergman, and her significant other, Gordon Madsen. She is survived by her daughter, Roxane Johnson, and son-in-law, Bret Johnson; her son, Mark Taisey, and daughter-in-law, Denise Taisey; her granddaughters, Teya Chappell, Tabitha Johnson, and Alexis Taisey; her grandsons, Cameron Krieger, Trevor Johnson, Travis Johnson, and Thyler Taisey; her great-grandson, Damian Ontiveros; and her great-granddaughter, Avery Chappell. Margaret was born and raised in St. Maries, Idaho. There, she met and married Lyle Taisey in 1948. Margaret followed Lyle to Tennessee and California during his years of service in the U.S. Navy, and the couple eventually settled in Albany, Oregon. several decades of marriage, Margaret and Lyle divorced, but they remained friends. In 1999, Margaret met the love of her life, Gordon Madsen, on a blind date. quickly fell in love and began traveling the country together. Gordon and Margaret often spent their winters in Yuma, Arizona, where they loved socializing with other snowbirds and shopping in Mexico. Margarets family will remember her as a feisty, hard-working, stubborn, meticulous, and kind woman who knew exactly what she wanted. She took great pride in her appearance and in the appearance of her home, and she never missed an opportunity to beat her friends and family in a game of cards. Margarets sense of humor will be greatly missed, as will the delicious Swedish foods she loved to prepare. At Margarets request, a service will not be held; however, donations can be made in her honor to the Oregon Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. |

Obituary: Long time Portland resident Dr. Jahanara Tahir passed away , 24, 2015. She was 81 years old. Dr. Tahir was born in Lucknow, India in 1933 and moved to Canada from Pakistan in 1958 to attend McGill University Medical School. Dr. Tahir and her husband, Dr. Mian Tahir moved to Portland in 1964. Dr. Tahir practiced medicine as an ob-gyn in Portland for over 40 years. She started her practice at Bess Kaiser hospital and then continued her career in private practice in Beaverton. She always loved when she would run into her former patients with their grown children, whom she had delivered. Jahanara and Mian were some of the first immigrants to Portland from India and Pakistan, and Jahanara will be remembered for welcoming into her home everyone who followed over the years from that part of the world, making sure they had a place to go and providing many wonderful meals, conversation, and support and guidance. She was a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Portland. Jahanara is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Mian Tahir, her two sons, Haroon and Irfan Tahir, two daughters-in-law, Lisa Jeli and Melissa Tahir, and three grandchildren, Isam, Aisha, and Raffi Tahir. She is also survived by two brothers in Karachi, Pakistan and her younger brother Mamood Aziz of Newport News, Virginia. A prayer service and committal will take place in Skyline Memorial Gardens & Chapel, 4101 NW Skyline Blvd., Portland, Oregon, on , 28th, 2015, at 1pm. A public committal ceremony will take place immediately following in Skyline Memorial Gardens in the garden of Prayer.
