Obituary: Don, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend went to be with the Lord on 16, 2011 in Oklahoma City following a brief illness. Don was born near Waukomis OK on 31, 1928, to Joe Ben and Alta Taggart. From an early age, Don exhibited a talent for raising, showing and evaluating livestock and he carried this interest with him his entire life. In keeping with his lifelong passion, he went on to graduate from Oklahoma State University in 1950 with a degree in Animal Science and soon thereafter, he was joined in marriage in 1950 to his beloved wife of 49 years, the former Mary Ann Smith. Don served his country in the Korean War, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant with Oklahomas 45th Infantry. In 1953, he was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service. Upon his return to civilian life, Don earned a Masters degree in Animal Science from the University of Illinois and a move back to native Oklahoma in the early 60s eventually led him to a long and richly rewarding career with the State Fair of Oklahoma. His knowledge of livestock and expertise in the field were highly valued and up to and following his retirement from the Fair, he was frequently called upon to judge at prominent shows across the U.S. including the Houston Livestock Show and State Fair of Texas. In keeping with his roots, he maintained a lifelong involvement with 4H and FFA youth and served in various leadership roles with the Sirloin Club and Southwest American Livestock Foundation. His sweet spirit and engaging personality will be greatly missed by all. Don is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Lynn and Sheri Taggart and their sons John and Jace Taggart, all of Oklahoma City; sister Glenna Belle Berkenbile, nephew Jimmy Berkenbile and wife Beth and families, nephew Terry Berkenbile and families, all of Hennessey; sister-in-law Ila Smith and niece Lu Ann Wilson and husband Bob Wilson and families, all of Oklahoma City; niece Cathie Bailey and husband Bob Bailey of Weatherford; special friend and companion Lawanda Burger and family, all of Oklahoma City. Services will be held at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 7201 West Britton Road, Oklahoma City OK 73132 on 21 at 2:00 pm, under direction of Hahn-Cook Street & Draper Services of Oklahoma City. Visitation will be from 8am to 9pm at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper. Donations accepted to the American Heart Association.

Obituary: Amber Dawn Taft, 30, passed on to her eternal home on 16, 2016 in Midwest City, OK. She was born on 22, 1985 in Oklahoma City, OK to Marion Rick and Roxeann Elizabeth (Gerdes) Taft.

Amber played soccer most of her life, and enjoyed gardening, flowers, and spending time with her family and friends. Her daughter Makenzy was absolutely the light of her life.

Amber was preceded in death by her father, Rick; maternal grandfather, Rolland Gerdes; paternal grandparents, Charles and Betty Taft; uncles, Kevin and Billy Taft. Survivors include by her life partner, Darrell Short; daughter, Makenzy Short; mother, Roxeann Taft; grandmother, Nadine Gerdes; aunts and uncles, Susie Bowser (Don), Rolland Buster Gerdes, Jr., Chuck Taft, Deborah Fulton and Jack Stotts; numerous cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.

Obituary: Elizabeth Miller Tackwell of Norman died in her home , 18.

Born 14, 1923, in Caney, Kansas, she lived in Oklahoma most of her life. She graduated from Skiatook High School in 1941. While attending The University of Oklahoma in 1945, she worked for Dr. George Cross and Dr. Winkler and lived in the Beta Theta Pi house while he boys were off to war. She and Joseph Jerry Tackwell had their first date at The Mont and married in 1946.

Mrs. Tackwell graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology in 1953 and received her Masters in Social Work from OU in 1962. She worked as a Psychiatric Social Worker at the Veterans Affairs Medical in Oklahoma City 1962-1997, retiring at the age of 74. She also worked for the Department of and Human Services 1958-1997, the Oklahoma Department of Public Welfare 1958-1961, the University of Oklahoma Sciences as an Assistant Professor 1963-64, The University of Oklahoma School of Social Work as an Assistant Professor 1964-65, a consultant to extended care facilities across the state 1967-1975, and in private practice at Massey Psychiatric Clinic 1964-1969, Professional Corporation of Psychiatry and Psychology 1971-1992, and Associates in Psychiatry, Inc. 1972-1974. She also served on accreditation teams for the Federal Government to survey psychiatric facilities throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.

She was a member of the American Sociological Society 1953-1997, Oklahoma and Welfare Association 1961-1997, National Association of Social Workers 1962-1997, Academy of Certified Social Workers 1964-1997, and the American Association of University Professors 1967-1997. Honors include the Chi Omega Award for Scholastic Achievement 1953, Pi Gamma Mu National Honor Society, Whos Who Among Human Services Professionals, Whos Who of American Women, World Whos Who of Women, NASW Oklahoma Chapter Social Worker of the Year 1975, National Association of Social Workers Oklahoma Chapter Life Time Achievement award for countless years of service and dedication to the community and profession 1996.

In the early 1970s she worked on a presidential committee to require social workers in the state of Oklahoma to be licensed. In the first hours and days following the Murrow Building bombing she worked on-site to support families of the victims.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers, and her husband, Joseph Jerry Tackwell. Survivors include son Steven Tackwell and wife Cindy of Blanchard, daughter Tiana Tackwell and husband Don David of Broomfield, Colorado, daughter Christy Tackwell of Albuquerque, New Mexico, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service is planned at Osage Gardens in Skiatook, Oklahoma.
