Obituary: JOHN WILLIAM TRITCH Greensboro, NC Dearly loved husband and father, John William Tritch, passed away on 14, 2015, due to complications from prostate cancer treatment. He was born in Kendallville, IN, 23rd, 1939. John received his education from East Noble High School where his father, Royal Tritch was principal and his mother Virginia Albright Tritch was a teacher. He went on to attend Purdue University where he received a degree in Forest Management in 1961. John was active in college life as a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, and President of the Alpha Zeta Agriculture Honorary Fraternity. During the summer of 1960, he enlisted in R.O.T.C. and attended the U.S. Army and Military School at Fort Sill, OK. Out of 500 cadets, he was always proud he placed first in the 45 Caliber Pistol Qualifying Competition. This experience led to a life long love of marksmanship and collecting and was later commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. John married his high school sweetheart, Suzanne Lee Febles, 24th, 1961. spent their honeymoon driving to Oregon where he worked as a Forester at Steam Boat Ranger Station. of 1962 saw the arrival of their first son, William Bartley. Shortly thereafter, the Berlin Crisis sent them to Stuttgart, Germany where he served as a First Lieutenant in the Tank Transport Division. This three year commission resulted in many exciting and happy memories for the young couple, as well as the birth of their second son, Todd Patrick in 1965. his deployment in 1967, John received his MBA from the University of Wisconsin, and traveled to Oregon to seek employment in the forest products industry. His first job was at Boise Cascade in Independence. During this time, John and Suzanne welcomed the arrival of their daughter, Rachel Suzanne in 1970. In 1973 he joined Columbia Plywood Corporation as Assistant Manager in Klamath Falls. Four years later, Alpine Veneer offered him a General Manager position where he worked until returning to Columbia Plywood in 1980. In 1991, he moved to Greensboro, North Carolina to become Vice President of Manufacturing for Columbia Forest Products where he would oversee plants in Canada, Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina. John retired in 2000 after 27 years with the company. John was always very active in community and business organizations. In Klamath Falls, he served a term as chairman of the Hardwood Plywood and Veneer Association and was awarded Forest Businessman of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce. He worked as co-chair in 1989 with fundraising efforts to create the civic auditorium, the Ross Ragland Theatre and Cultural . He was also a member of the Klamath Yacht Club. He served with the United Way, Rotary, The Economic Development Association and was a member of the Klamath Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir. While in Greensboro, John was on the Board of Directors for Zickgraf, served as both a Member of the Board of Visitors and Board of Trustees for Greensboro , and spent time with the Kiwanis Club. Both he and Suzanne were members of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Sedgefield Country Club, and created the Paul Pelikan Memorial Scholarship Fund for students in Kendallville, Indiana. John had a special connection with nature and shared this interest with others. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, mountain climbing, fishing, skiing and sailing. Golf and tennis were also hobbies he enjoyed into his seventies, as well as traveling with family and spending time with grandchildren. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his three children, William Bartley Tritch, of Greensboro, NC; Dr. Todd Patrick Tritch (Hildur) of Eugene, OR; and Rachel Tritch Lewis (Blake) of Davidson, NC. He is also survived by grandsons Robert Blake Lewis of Davidson, NC; and Cole Patrick Tritch of Eugene, OR; and granddaughters Paisley Suzanne Lewis of Davidson, NC; and Vivien Hildur Tritch of Eugene, OR. John is survived by his sister Sarah Tritch Butterbaugh of ville, OH; brother Dr. David A. Tritch (Alexandria) of Tacoma,WA; along with many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. Johns family would like to extend their deepest appreciation for all of the kind loving care devoted to him from medical staff and Pennybyrn at Maryfield in High Point. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. with reception following on , 19th, 2015 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 607 N.
