Obituary: In the early hours on , 22, 2017, at her home in Raleigh, North Carolina, Susan succumbed to her fight with ovarian cancer with her family by her side. She was 61 years old. Susan was born on 1, 1955 in Springdale, Arkansas. She was the second child and first daughter to Lorene and Tom Rollins. Susan spent her childhood in Springdale with a loving family. She was an avid fan of her Springdale High School and caused just enough trouble in her teenage years. She was the first in her family to attend college and graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Education. While there, she met her husband. Jeff and Susan married on 12, 1978 and enjoyed 7 years of newlywed life before having their daughter, Adrian, on 18, 1985, adding one more to their adventures. Susan developed her faith as a young girl at Sycamore Baptist Church, loved the Lord, shared her faith with many during her life and never ceased to pray for miracles. She served tirelessly wherever needed in every church body she joined. It is evident in Susan's career that her passion was helping others. She was a high school teacher, specializing in English, and when she and Jeff moved to Washington, D.C. and then to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, early in their marriage, she substitute taught at any opportunity. Susan supported Jeff in his dream to start a business and dedicated her energy to Arkansas Farmer in Stuttgart, Arkansas, which became a success and led to a move to North Carolina. When Jeff and Susan settled in Raleigh, she continued to support Jeff in his career, spent many years dedicated to raising her daughter and, most recently, passionately devoted her time to Easterseals UCP, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people with disabilities find employment. Susan had a real zest for holidays. Her halloween character, Esmerelda, was the highlight of the neighborhood, but she especially loved Christmas. She would spend days getting the house ready, elevating everyones anticipation and excitement for the season. Susan had a gift for creating and sharing traditions. A favorite tradition was her Oscar party where she would meticulously invent games and prepare refreshments. Susan also had a powerful love for her friends and, most fervently, the ladies in her book club. She cared very deeply about these women with whom she shared many stories, prayers, laughs and tears. Among Susan's favorite things were trips to the beach, a good chili dog, Coca Cola, snow days and her tenacious Jack Russell, Rocket. She thoroughly enjoyed James Bond films, which is likely the origin of her affinity for dirty martinis, and was humorously intrigued by anyone who had not invested in the Star Trek or Star Wars stories (and tried to correct it). Susan loved to warm her bed buddy, cuddle up with a good book, spend time with her family all the while comfortably in her pajamas. She wanted to play cards whenever possible and despised losing which rarely happened. Susan repeatedly laid down her life, preferences and desires to give Jeff, Adrian or other loved ones what they needed or wanted. She was a powerful force as a woman, daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. Susan along with Jeff and Adrian wanted to give special thanks to her extended family, friends, neighbors, church community, nurses, Doctors Nacouzi, Moore and Van Le along with all others who served her at UNC Rex Cancer , UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer and Heartland Hospice. Their service and care humbled and amazed Susan and her family, bringing tears of joy and a true understanding of grace and community. Susan is preceded in death by her father and mother, Tom and Lorene Rollins. Susan is survived by her husband Jeff Tennant, her daughter Adrian Tennant Savic, son-in-law Nemanja Savic, her brother Bob Rollins and a large, loving extended family in Northwest Arkansas. Susan will be laid to rest at Mount Comfort cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas on , 29, 2017. Flowers are appreciated for services in Arkansas. Obituary: Mrs. Lillian Rembert Speas Tennant, 85, of Winston-Salem passed away on , 24, 2016, at Salemtowne Retirement . Lillian was born in Forsyth on 12, 1930 to the late, William Worth Speas and the late, Vertie Hepler Speas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Don Tennant. She was raised in Woodleaf, NC prior to relocating back to Winston-Salem after marrying the love of her life Don Tennant. Lillian was a member of New Hope Methodist Church. She loved her many friends and family; her granddaughters were the light of her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by a son, Michael Tennant of Charlotte; a daughter, Lynne Iwanowicz and her husband, Steve of Macon, MO; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Michelle Iwanowicz; two brothers, Troy Speas and his wife Phyllis of Harrisburg, and William H. Speas and wife, Irene of Greensboro, MD; nieces and nephews, Cherilyn, Billy, Shirley, Matthew and Eric. A celebration of life will be held 1 PM, , 27th in the Chapel of Frank Vogler and Sons Reynolda Chapel with The Rev./Dr. Suzanne G. Michael officiating.
