Obituary: Robert Burnette Taylor passed away on 6, 2015. Born and raised in Pineville, NC, Robert was the son of the late Robert Knox Taylor and Mary Bailes Taylor. He graduated from East Mecklenburg in 1953 and went on to work in the bearings industry in Charlotte. As an avid fan, he enjoyed working at NASCAR races for the Union 76 Race Team at Charlotte, Rockingham, Daytona and North Wilkesboro Speedways. Robert was a former member of St Johns United Methodist Church, where he was involved with the youth group and played softball on the church league. He is survived by his wife Betty Howey Taylor; son, Bob Taylor and wife Jean; granddaughter, Madison Taylor and companion Thomas Murray, all of Charlotte. Robert was truly a kind soul, quick to laugh and not known to issue a harsh word. He was a dedicated fan of Tar Heels basketball, Edisto Beach and sweet corn, and he will be missed so very much. Visitation will be held at 1 pm on , 9 at McEwen Service, 5716 Monroe Rd. with a service to follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel conducted by Reverend James F. Howell. The family would like to thank and express their appreciation to the caring staff at White Oak Manor. |

Obituary: Robert Franklin Taylor, 88, of Charlotte died , 15, 2013 at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Charlotte. A native of Quincy, Illinois, Mr. Taylor was born on 24, 1925 and raised by his grandparents, Frank and Leta Taylor. He retired from the United States Army after 27 years of service and was a veteran of World War II and the Vietnam War. Following his service in the Army, Mr. Taylor worked for Family Dollar for 15 years and operated a trucking company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne Haas Taylor on 5, 2013. Mr. Taylor is also preceded in death by two sons, Richard and Paul Taylor. Mr. Taylor is survived by his children, Walter Taylor and wife Pamela of Matthews, Rodney Taylor of Charlotte; daughter-in-law, Sharon Taylor; grandchildren, Jodie Conte, Jennifer Espin, Richard, Jamie, and Michael Taylor, Crystal Comer; great-grandchildren, Zac and Taylor Johnston, Victor, Alexis and Matthew Espin and great-great-grandson, Gabe Espin. A funeral service will be held 2:00p.m., , 18 in the chapel at Wilson and Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte with Reverend Todd Marlin officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service on at the funeral home.
