She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bob; daughters, Janice (Jim Gonyeau) Ridgway, Patricia (Mike) Hecht, Roberta Turcotte and Judy (Les Medley) Turcotte; grandchildren, Shawn (Heather) Ridgway, Patrick Ridgway, Nicholas Ridgway, Danielle Capizzi, Alyson Hecht, Bryana Capizzi, Selena Turcotte, Tyler Hecht and Elijah Turcotte; great grandchildren, twins Carter and Liam Ridgway and Carsen Baum; extended family and friends. Helen was a member of the West Walworth Fire Department for over fifty years. She enjoyed her neighbors and spent a lifetime offering assistance to anyone in need. She spent many years babysitting many of the neighborhood children. Helen was an active member of the Macedon Senior Citizens group. She loved and enjoyed every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren. Turco, 53, of Brooklyn, N.Y., passed away on , 30, 2017, at his beloved Culver Lake, N.J. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Louis was raised in Staten Island. He received his bachelor's degree in marketing and business from Quinnipiac . Louis moved back to Brooklyn and opened the Canal Bar in Gowanus. A favorite local dive bar where, "everyone knew your name," and your dogs! Very involved in the community, his bar was host to many a fundraiser. Louis was a true New Yorker, he knew every stat on the Yankees, Rangers and Giants, loved his music, did the crossword puzzles daily and would watch old black and white movies! He was a true trivia buff! When not in Brooklyn you would find him at home on Culver Lake, sitting on the dock, chilling with family, friends and his pups. Louis touched so many lives in his kind and gentle way. He had the biggest heart and his unique wit always left a smile on our faces! A beautiful soul that left us much too soon. Louis is survived by his father and mother, Louis and Tina (nee Valentino) Turco, both of Staten Island, N.Y.; his sisters, Lisa Gibble and husband, Matthew, of Ridgewood, Melissa Georgiou and husband, George, of Cranford, and Alison Jones and husband, John, of Westfield; his nieces and nephews, Samantha, Tina, Abby, Elaina, Christopher, Loukas, Rachel and Stefanos, as well as his sidekicks, Sofie and Augie, and his many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends. Obituary: Thomas J. Turck, 92, lifelong resident of Kingston, died , 22, 2015 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. Born 1, 1922, in Kingston, he was the son of the late James and Amelia Turck. His wife, Helen, died in 2000. A veteran of the US Army during World War II, he enlisted in 1942 and served with the 513 Airborne Signal Co. in the European Theater. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was employed by Hercules Power in Port Ewen, Kenvil, NJ, and Cumberland, MD. He retired from the Port Ewen plant in 1984 after serving many years as the plant safety officer. He was a member of the NYS Archaeology Association, Mid-Hudson Chapter, Lake Katrine Rod & Gun Club, the Hudson River Commercial Fisherman Association, VFW Post 1386, DAV Post 196, and American Legion Post 150. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also spent many years fishing the Hudson River for shad. Survivors include his two daughters, Carol Ann Stalter and her husband Darryl of Lehigh Acres, FL, and Joanne Jankovitz and her husband, Paul of Kingston, two granddaughters, Kaitlyn Watjen and Lindsay Jankovitz and grandson, Anthony Thomas Stalter. Two brothers, Rudolph and James Turck, also survive. Two brothers, Michael and Samuel Turck, predeceased him. Thomas will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus , 411 Albany Ave. on , 25, 2015 from 4-8 PM. A service by the Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 Color Guard will be conducted at 7 PM. A funeral service will be conducted on at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment, with military honors by Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 Color Guard, will be in St. Marys . |
