Obituary: Robert Edward Taylor was born 30, 1940, to Frank and Mary (Sheeder) Taylor in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was raised in the Guthrie area, attended country school Baker #2 and graduated from Guthrie High School in 1958. Bob married Patricia Corwin on 15, 1973 in Las Vegas, Nevada. graduation Bob worked for Vickers Hydraulics in Omaha, was a finish carpenter for Hawkeye of Des Moines, worked at Control Data in Omaha and worked for Sunstrand in Denver, Colorado. He retired from Sunstrand in 1999. The couple then moved to Springfield, Missouri. Bob loved to hunt, fish and visit with people. He was the Guthrie Historian. Bob loved planning the trips that he and Pat would take. He also enjoyed playing cards and board games. Bob died on , 22, 2017, at his home in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 76 years, three months, and 23 days. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kendall Lee Taylor; five siblings, Richard, Claude, Estel and Joe Taylor and Ardith Stanley; father-in-law, Donald Corwin; and brother-in-law, Jim Slagle. He is survived by his wife Pat Taylor of Springfield, Missouri; three sons, Kevin Robert (Melody) Taylor of Des Moines, Iowa, Nathan (Cori) Taylor of Bay City, Michigan, Kevin (Tracie) Taylor of Springfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, Nathan Anthony, Rozlyn and Tristyn Taylor; mother-in-law, Bertha Corwin of Woodbine, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. |

Obituary: Taylor, Robert E. was called home to the Lord on May 2, 2015 at age 89. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 27 years, JoAnn (Williams) Taylor, and dear daughter Carol Ann. Survived by his wife of 35 years, Alice A. (Gerke), children Joseph M. (Kathi), Robert (Anne), Susan (Manuel) Taylor Hernandez, Pat (Steve) Matt, John W. (Sheila) and Thomas M., 19 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. Robert was born in Harrison, AR to Hugh Mark and Anna (Fowler) Taylor. He served with distinction in WWII and saw combat with the infantry in the Philippines, attaining the rank of staff sergeant during the post-war occupation in Korea. Returning after the war, he married his sweetheart JoAnn and began a family. He worked in the transportation and storage solution industries until his retirement at age 62. He was a dutiful, devoted husband to his wife JoAnn who passed in 1977 from complications due to Multiple Sclerosis. He married Alice A. Gerke of Belleville, IL in 1980 and they enjoyed an active retirement life with many years of travel and socializing. Robert was a loving father, husband, son-in-law to Joseph and Olga Williams, grandfather and great grandfather and will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers donations in Bob's name to the Gateway MS Society are appreciated. Obituary: Robert (Bob) F. Taylor entered into eternal rest on , 8, 2012. He was born on 12, 1930, in Kansas City, Missouri, to William Henry Taylor and Edna Gertrude Daniell Taylor. He was a graduate of the Paseo High School Class of 1947. Immediately after graduation he joined the United States Navy as a 3rd Class Radioman on the submarine U.S.S. Pomfret. Bob was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was proud to learn later that he had served on the Pomfret with future United States President Jimmy Carter. serving our country Bob was employed by the Kansas City Star and Times newspaper as a photo engraver in the camera/platemaking department where he worked until his retirement in 1995. He was recognized by the Kansas City Star as having a remarkable eye for quality. He was baptized into the Van Brunt Church of Christ and later became a member of the Raytown Church of Christ. Bob enjoyed summer vacations with his wife, children, family and friends. He was also an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed square dancing with his wife in the Hicks and Chicks Club. One of his greatest pleasures was enjoying the company of his many friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Lavern Fritz Taylor and his brother, William (Bill) Henry Taylor. Bob is survived by his sister Jane Weatherby and her husband Ray, his daughter Deborah Kay Taylor Boyd and her husband Charles, son Daniell Kevin Taylor and his wife Doreen, two grandsons Christopher Steven Carlson and Kevin Lee Deaton, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. There will be a private graveside service at Mt. Moriah . The family requests that no flowers be sent but that donations be made in Bobs name to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative . |
