Obituary: Leontine (“Teen”) Rufin Toye, born 1, 1921 in New Orleans, passed away peacefully on 2, 2014, at age 93, surrounded by many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Toye was predeceased by her parents, Elenore Bordes Rufin and Denis E. Rufin, Sr., her brothers Denis, Jr. and Albert, and her sisters Zoe Callac and Lucille Riecke. She is survived by her brother Emile. Mrs. Toye was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Metairie for many years, before moving to the Christwood Retirement Community in Covington after Hurricane Katrina. She was an active participant with her husband George in a lifetime of service to the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, the Equestrian Order of St. Gregory the Great, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, and the committee for the visit of Pope John Paul II to New Orleans. Mr. and Mrs. Toye were active in numerous other civic and social organizations in the New Orleans metropolitan area, including the Bienville Club, the Plimsoll Club, and the Carnival Krewes of Hermes, Athenians and Rex. She was a member of Metairie Country Club and the Orleans Club, and was an avid golfer and bridge player. Mrs. Toye enjoyed a lifetime of world travels with her husband George, and they were members of the Skol Travel Organization. Her zest for life, sense of humor, and devotion to family and friends endeared her to many, and she will be greatly missed by family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on , 5, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Metairie . Committal services and interment will follow at Memorial Park under the direction of Cox . The family will receive friends , 6th, beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cox of Bastrop. Voree Dee Townsend was born 23, 1929 near Jonesboro, Louisiana in Jackson Parish to the late Alton Eli Robinson and Mellissia Amy Swanner Robinson. She passed away, 4, 2015, following a brief illness, at the Lagniappe and Rehab in Bastrop, Louisiana. Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernie Townsend; a sister, Catherine Robinson and step-brother, Edward Thomas Brown. Voree was a member of the Bonita Road Assembly of God. She enjoyed sharing the gospel, through her musical talents, and serving others in the nursing home ministry she had with her late husband, Bernie. Mrs. Townsend is survived by her two sons, William Leon Banks and his wife Theresa of West Monroe, Louisiana, and Rodney Dewitt Banks and his wife, Kier of Salinas, California; two step-daughters, Lorrie Fox and her husband, Dave of Florida and Beverly Riddle and her husband, Wayne of Fort Mojave, Arizona; a brother, Ray Robinson and his wife, Margaret of Bastrop, Louisiana; sister, Syble Ann Beardsley of Washington State; and a step-brother, Nathan Brown and his wife, Carol Sue of California.
