Obituary: Edward Wade Turner, 75, of Rising Sun, IN passed away , 28th, 2014 at the Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, OH. Wade was born in Markland, IN on 23, 1939, a son of the late Ethel Mae (Wiley) and Ira Edward Turner. He was baptized at an early age at the Markland Baptist Church. Wade was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 1957. He was a life long farmer, raising crops and operating a dairy for many years. Wade was a member of the Switzerland Tractor Pullers Association, Laughery Valley Co-op Farm Bureau board member, S & O Chairman, Soil & Water Conservation Board Superintendent, 4-H Fair Board member, Youth Advisory Board member and was former assistant building inspector to Alonzo Bowling. On 15, 1965 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Aurora, IN he married Janice (Lawson) Turner. Wade and Jan were married nearly 50 years. Obituary: Virginia Ginny L. Turner, 69, Kokomo, passed away on , 20, 2010, at her home. She was born 8, 1940, in Kokomo, to Russell R. and Reah (Kendall) Fouch. Ginny attended Trinity Wesleyan Church. She loved the sun, the ocean, and skiing and cherished her family, her many friends, and her special dog, Bill E. Bob. She is survived by four brothers, Herb (Mittie) Fouch, Ernie (Patty) Fouch, Dale (Trudy) Fouch, and Frank (Joy) Fouch; four sisters, Jane (Duke) Hunt, Sharon Fouch Cloum, Dorothy (Dick) Boruff, and Rosie (Dennis) Marcum; special daughter-in-law, Christine, who was known to Ginny as Little Bit; many nieces and nephews; her very special cousin, Bart Krajewski; and her very best friend, Scoop. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Ronnie Lee Fouch, and Bill Ekbald, Jr.; two brothers, Russell E. Fouch, and Robert Fouch; and four sisters, Joann Davy, Jean Wentworth, Marilyn Dewitt, and Betty Kay. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at Sunset Memory Garden with Pastor Dave Boss officiating. Entombment will follow at Kokomo Memorial Park . Obituary: Thomas W. Turner, 86, of Evansville, passed away in his sleep on , 19, 2010, at Deaconess Hospital. He was born 31, 1923, in Clarksville, TN. He moved to Evansville as a child with his mother, Zulema and his brother Robert. Turner excelled as a football player and played varsity as a freshman. He earned three varsity letters and was the captain of the varsity team for two years. In 1941 he was awarded All-State Honorable Mention and the Courier Press Award. In 1942 he was awarded the Quarterback Club and the Kiwanis Award from the Downtown Kiwanis Club. He was also awarded All City for two years. He made National Athletic Society at Central High School in 1942. Turner received a football Scholarship to the University of Nevada. Turner served in the U.S. Army in 1943 and was a World War II veteran. He was stationed in New Guinea and then in the Philippines. He played football for the Army for three years and wrestled for two years with army services in the 175 to 185 weight class following the AAU and NCAA rules. returning from the service, he attended the University of Nevada. Then he attended the University of Evansville where he played football and was on the 49s team, which won all games played. Turner lettered in Varsity three years at the guard position as an offensive and defensive player. Turner graduated from the University of Evansville with a Bachelor Degree in 1950 and from Indiana University with a Masters Degree. graduating from the University of Evansville, he started teaching biology and physical education at Central High School. Turner was also the assistant coach for football, head of the physical education and health department, and was the athletic director. He started wrestling programs in Evansville Public Schools along with Al Horn from Reitz. Then Turner became the wrestling coach for Central and an official for the IHSAA and NCAA-AAU. Turner was put in the Hall of Fame for Head Wrestling Coach of Indiana on 25, 1977. He was the first to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He retired from teaching in 1983. He was a member of the 100 Club and 49s Club of the University of Evansville, Quarterback Club of Evansville, Hadi Shrine for 50 years, Scottish Rite for 50 years, Lessing Lodge for 46 - 50 years, American Legion for 47 years, VFW Post #1114 Elite Team, Alumni Association of IU School of HPER, Sherriffs Association of Indiana, Retired Teachers Association, Petroleum Club, Kennel Club, Coterie Dance Club of Evansville and was an excellent ballroom dancer. Turner also opened some of the first swimming pools in Evansville at the Rolling Hills Country Club, the Executive Inn, and Harke Pool and was the manager. Tom was loved by his students and many people of the Tri-State. He was a great person to know and will be greatly missed. Turner is survived by a wife, Georgia L. Turner, who loved him dearly. were together for 26 years. Also surviving are a son, David Turner (wife Penelope) of Grand Haven, Michigan and a granddaughter, Abbey Road Turner, age 4. Additional survivors include a half sister, Mrs. Douglas E. Shelton of Pembroke, KY; nieces Mary Schoettlin and JoAnn Elliot (husband Terry) of Evansville; and nephew Robert Turner, Jr., who resides in Aurora, Colorado; other survivors include great-nieces and nephews along with great-great nieces and nephews. Turner was pre-deceased by both his mother Zulema, his father Yancy and brother Robert. The family would like to extend a thank you to all the nurses, aides, and therapy who took care of Tom during his stay at Deaconess Hospital and Dr. Robert Rusche for his excellent care. Services will be 2:00 PM , 23, 2010, at Alexander Memorial Park Heritage Chapel, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, officiated by Rev. Jeff Long with entombment to follow.
