Obituary: Mr. James Wendell Tumlin, age 80, of Acworth, GA., passed away, , 7, 2017 surrounded by his family. Mr. Tumlin was born on 24, 1936 in Acworth, a son of the late James Herman Thomas Tumlin and Maggie Orr Tumlin. Mr. Tumlin was a life-long resident of Acworth, GA. He was a devoted member of Crossroads Baptist Church for many years. His career was spent purchasing and selling antiques for his antique shop. In his spare time, he found great joy being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Though his work and hobbies brought him great satisfaction, it never compared to the joy he found being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Wendell will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Along with his parents, Mr. Tumlin is preceded in death by his former spouse, Mrs. Sibyl Tumlin. Mr. Tumlin is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Casey Tumlin; two children, Mike Tumlin, wife Denise and Diana Gobbi, husband Mike, both of Acworth; one sister, Jewel McMichen, husband, Lealon of Dallas, GA; four grandchildren, Seth (Katie) Gobbi, Scott Gobbi, Josh (Erin) Tumlin, and Ashley Tumlin; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Tumlin and William Gobbi; and several extended family members and friends. A memorial service to honor the life of Mr. James Wendell Tumlin, will be held at four oclock in the afternoon on , 12, 2017 in the Chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge with Rev. Keith Cox officiating. Obituary: Doris Ann Smith Tumlin, 87, of Cartersville passed away , 3, 2014. She was born 22, 1926 in Cartersville, Georgia to the late Lester Franklin and Eva Bailey Smith and was educated in the Cartersville School System. Doris married Norton Brown Tumlin on 9, 1952. Prior to marriage, she worked at Kroger Grocer Store and then as secretary at First Baptist Church. It was during her time as church secretary that she fell in love with Norton. She stayed home to raise her children until the youngest was in school, and then she went back to being church secretary for a few years. Realizing the high cost of college education, Doris became a full time rural letter carrier to help pay the tuition of her four children. Doris and Norton, as well as their children, were active members at First Baptist Church Cartersville, where she served as church hostess for many years and also touched many lives by teaching the youth in Church Training Union on nights. Later, she was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. Doris was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing clothing, costumes, blankets, and quilts for her children and grandchildren. She was also an excellent cook, and one could always find freshly baked cookies, bread, or brownies in her kitchen. being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 62, she became an avid walker. Many people who walked at Dellinger Park over the past 25 years will remember the beautiful white haired lady with the muscular legs who could beat anyone around the two mile course she traipsed twice a day. If she wasn walking, cooking, or sewing, and it was a warm month, you could find her on her XMark cutting the grass. A stroke at age 82 ended these hobbies for Doris, but she took up reading and completed four or five books a week. She also was a big Braves fan and kept a schedule of all the games next to her bed. Doris always had a smile to share and never, ever complained. Affectionately known as Gran, Doris is survived by her children, Terry Norton Tumlin and spouse Luanne Gilreath Tumlin of Cartersville, Rebecca Alluwee Tumlin Jarrett and spouse James Esley Jarrett of Cartersville, Lewis Henry Tumlin, III and spouse Susan Williams Tumlin of Cartersville, and Trudy Jane Tumlin Christopher and spouse Michael Edward Christopher of Canton. Her nine surviving grandchildren are James Adam Jarrett, Atlanta, Sarah Elizabeth Tumlin Bronni and spouse Nick, Oakton Virginia, Joshua Andrew Jarrett, Atlanta, Matthew Thomas Christopher and spouse Caroline, Daytona Beach, FL, Katherine Grace Tumlin, Cartersville, Lewis Henry (Hank) Tumlin IV, West Palm Beach, FL, Ross Tumlin Christopher, Savannah, Samuel Gilreath Tumlin, a, and Bonnie Dell Tumlin Roberts and spouse Kevin, Charleston, SC. She is also survived by her sister, Clara Smith Bagwell and brother-in-law, Harris Bagwell of White, and her sister-in-law Scottie Tumlin McNair, Jonesboro and many nieces and nephews. Doris was pre-deceased by her spouse, Norton Brown Tumlin, daughter Patricia Ann Tumlin, and brother Carl Smith and sister-in-law Helen Smith. The service will be held , 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Owen , with interment to follow at Oak Hill . Visitation will be , 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Obituary: Mr. Clyde David Tumlin Jr., 72, of LaGrange, passed away 10, 2016. David was born 20, 1943, in Troy, Alabama to the late Clyde and Sarah Clark Tumlin and he grew up in Columbus, Georgia. graduating from Baker High School in 1961, David entered the U.S. Air Force. Two weeks after being in service, David received an offer of employment from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Being the committed man that he was, David remained enlisted in the Air Force. While in the Air Force, David studied the Russian language at Syracuse University and trained to be a voice intercept specialist at Goodfellow Air Force Base before being deployed to Turkey. David received many awards while in the Air Force, including the USAF Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and USAF Commendation Medal. David was honorably discharged as an Airman 1st Class and married Bonnie Gail Andrews in 1966. David and Gail celebrated their 49th anniversary on 17, 2015. the Air Force, David worked for Southern Bell as an electronic technician supervisor and retired after 34 years. David was as dedicated an employee with the telephone company as he was an airman. He was a member of the Communication Workers of American and Telephone Pioneers. It was through his employment with Southern Bell that he and his family relocated to his final residence in LaGrange, Georgia. David loved nature, traveling the world, and learning new things. He was a serious and responsible man who also loved cracking jokes with his dry wit. David was a gentle and kind man, with the patience of Job. He was very methodical and always prepared. Even at the end of his days, David was advising what to do and when to do things. David was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. For many years, he served as a deacon, as treasurer, and as part of the church choir. Survivors include his loving wife of over 49 years, Bonnie Gail Andrews Tumlin of LaGrange; two daughters: Michelle Nation and husband Curt of LaGrange, Cathryn Johnson and husband Powell (Jay) of Tyler, Texas; four grandchildren: Jared & Dylan Nation of LaGrange, and Audrey and PJ Johnson of Tyler, Texas. The services will be 3:00 P.M. , 14, 2016 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Reverend Anthony Hovey and Reverend Tom Owensby officiating. The Gathering of Family and Friends will begin at 2:00pm until service time. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, American Red Cross, USO, Salvation Army, Shoal Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, and/or a local food closet in memory of Mr. Tumlin.
