Obituary: David Reese Thomas 27, 1926 - 5, 2016 David Reese Thomas, 89, went to his eternal rest and reward on 5, 2016, following a valiant physical battle. His devotion to his family and a firm belief in God supported him in his struggle, and ultimately gave him peace. David was born on 27, 1926, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Mary Catherine and Albert Edward Thomas. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. A 1950 graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a degree in electrical engineering, David had a long and distinguished career with Martin Marietta-Lockheed-Martin when he retired after 33 years. His wife and best friend, Ann Thomas, precede David; they were married for 63 years. A wonderful father of six beautiful children: Sharon Cooper (David), David Thomas (Patricia), Valerie Veise (Chip), Diane Fischer (Don), Renee Relf (Scott), and John Thomas (May). He was the adored grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of 7. One of the many talents that he loved to share was his voice. Between 1946 and 1950, he was the lead singer in a Big Band and, as he later told the story, he would have been right up there with Frank Sinatra had he not met the love of his life, Ann who he married in 1949. Dave was invariably willing to sing a song or two on Karaoke Night-always to a grateful audience. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing until the end, even when he could only chip and putt. God blessed him with many wonderful friends who will miss his love, sense of humor, and his beautiful voice. Visitation will be held at Schimunek s, 9705 Belair Rd. Nottingham, MD, 21236 on , 10, 2016 from 3:00 to 6:00pm. The family will be there to greet relatives and friends. A celebration Mass of Davids life will be held at St. Michael the Arch Angel Catholic Church 2 Willow Avenue, Baltimore, MD,21206 on , 11, 2016 at 10:30 am. Interment in Gardens of Faith . The family gratefully declines flowers. Obituary: David T. Thomas, 70, of Naples, died 2, 2015. Formerly of Rochester, NY, where he was born and raised, David had been a Naples resident since 2001. He worked for GM and later, Delphi in Rochester. David was a volunteer on the GM Fire Brigade and a volunteer fireman at the Genesee Valley Station in Henrietta, NY for 25 years. An officer of the Sons of American Legion, Squadron 135, he also served with the Honor Guard. David was an officer of the Mens Auxiliary, VFW Post 7369; past officer of Sons of Am-Vets Post 23; past officer of the Moose Lodge #1782; member of BPOE #2010 in Naples as well as the Fraternal Order of Eagles. David will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Pattie; his daughter, Dalina, his brothers, Dennis, Danforth (Patricia), and Douglas (Anita), all of Rochester; many nieces, nephews and cousins. he was preceded in death by parents, Danforth and Florence (Enderlin ) Thomas, by his sister-in-law, Gloria. Dave was born 1, 1965 to William James Thomas Jr. and Roberta Frances Wyllie in Highlands, New Jersey. then moved the family to Florida. His mother passed away when he was 14 and his father passed away when he was 23. He lost them both at a very young age. He was married at the age of 18 and had 3 boys. He spent time taking them to their baseball & basketball games, camping, fishing, boating and many amusement parks. He enjoyed spending what time he could when he wasn working. He was a jack of all trades, He taught everyone a lot. The last 10 months were not good to him. He was in pain all the time and despite not being able to walk he still had his great sense of humor right up till the end. He was a wonderful man. No one could ever ask for better. Dave will be deeply missed and loved. He was a great person, had a great personality and was always making someone laugh. He was full of jokes and could make anyone smile even if they were having a bad day that was just the kind of person he was. Dave could accomplish anything he put his mind to do.
