Obituary: Rebecca Wilson Thedford 1961-2015 Rebecca Wilson Thedford, went home to be with Jesus after a courageous battle with cancer on , May 25, 2015. She was born at Eglin A.F.B. FL on 30, 1961. She obtained a BA degree from Northwest Florida State in 2009. She was employed as office manager at Apex Electrical Contractors. She is the daughter of Edward and Helen Wilson. She leaves a daughter, Casey Preston and sons, Jacob, Jeremy(Shelly), Joshua(Cassi), and Jordan. Also surviving are grandchildren, Alexis, Felix, Yogi, Theodore, and Oscar. She also leaves brothers, Roy(Dana), Eric(Sharon), Sam(Debbie). She was a single mother devoted to her family. Special appreciation to doctors and staff at Emerald Coast Cancer and to Covenant Hospice and Covenant Community Church Family. Visitation will be held at Emerald Coast , 113 Racetrack Road, N.E. on , May 27, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. service will be at Covenant Community Church on May 28, at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Obituary: Frank, 91, died morning, 31, 2011 at Clare Bridge where he resided the past seven months. He and Billie moved from Tampa to Tallahassee in 2004 to be near the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frank was a quiet, humble, and simple man. And he liked those things about himself. He also was smart and capable. He quietly liked those traits. He was a deep thinker about life and willingly offered advice but only if solicited. Most of us have benefited from his wisdom. He would never criticize or judge and had great respect for everyone figuring out his own path. His encouragement was continuous. He thought it important to lift the spirits of others so the check out person at Publix, the Wachovia bank teller, or the staff person at Clare Bridge would all receive the pat on the arm and the "thank you so much. You e doing great." Frank was a proud man but never one to brag. His proudest moment was when he enlisted in the Coast Guard during WW II. He did not have to join since his father had been killed at an early age and his mother and seven siblings needed his income. He was always grateful to his mother for encouraging him to follow his conscience, telling him "Well be okay." He served 3 ? years spending time patrolling the beach in North Carolina; attending quartermaster school in New York, and being assigned to the USS Poughkeepsie. For several months he was in Leyte in the Philippines. His saddest moment was when he returned to the States and received a telegram that his brother had been killed in a car accident. (A great reunion is taking place.) Frank worked 35 years for the Atlantic Coastline Railroad/Seaboard Coastline. He began as an accountant and was promoted several times and ended in a managerial position. He learned a lot, worked with some wonderful people, and was proud of all he accomplished with only a high school diploma. If you knew Frank, you knew of his love. .. of currency and coins. He thought they were beautiful and interesting and had quite a collection. He could spot a penny on the sidewalk a block away. ..of walking. He started walking twice a day before he retired at 60 and continued until he was 91. He said that walking and eating very little meat was why he lived such a long, healthy life. ..of sports. He was one of the best baseball players in Tampa as a teen, a very good golfer, a life-long Gator , Tampa Bay Buc, and Tampa Rays fan. ..of his deep commitment to Billie, married 65 years and supporter of Barbara, her biggest cheerleader. ..of playing the harmonica and singing. Only recently did he discover he could sing, and sing well. He lost all shyness and would entertain family and friends at all gatherings. We won hear You Are My Sunshine again without thinking of him. ..of God and deep personal belief that He was with him at all times. Frank had a running conversation going and was thankful for everything. ..of sweets. No pie, cake, Hersheys kiss, or Oreo had a chance. ..and profound belief in honesty. ..of a keen sense of humor. What a quick wit he had. ..of the respect he had for education. ..of his and Billies School class. were always welcoming, encouraging and loving. ..and pride he had for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frank was born in Idlewild, Tennessee, on May 15, 1919 to Walter Jefferson Thedford and Audie Knott Thedford. The family moved to Florida when he was six and later settled in Tampa. He attended Plant High School. He is survived by his wife, Wilma (Billie) Layton Thedford; daughter Barbara Thedford Davidson and partner Anne Davis; grandson Larry Davidson and wife Gina; granddaughter Brandi Dickson and husband Paul; grandson Jeff Davidson and wife Karissa Davidson; great-grandchildren Ty Davidson, Jillian Davidson, Delaney Dickson, Kylie Davidson and Luke Davidson; sisters Ruth, Joyce and Merle. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers William and Jim and sisters Louise and Doris. The memorial service will be 10:00 AM , , 9, 2011, at Killearn United Methodist Church.
