Obituary: Walter P. Tabbert, 88, former resident of Franksville, WI, died peacefully 21, 2015 at his home in Springhill, FL with his family at his side. Walter was born May 26, 1926 in Norrie, WI to Madeline (Trumm) and Rudolph Tabbert. In his boyhood days he played baseball on the Franksville School Team. won 23 straight games over 2 years ending in 1939 with a 12 – 6 victory over Rochester in a game played at the Racine Fairgrounds in Union Grove, WI. To our knowledge that record still stands today. Walter could make anything he set his mind to. He enjoyed wood working, clock-making, and watching any kind of baseball or softball. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He was a season ticket holder during the Lombardi days and was present at the Ice Bowl. Walter served in the United States Army during World War II. He received many medals and commendations. At the age of 18 he was captured at the Battle of the Bulge and was encamped at Work Camp Wittlich M-Stammlager 12A in Limburg, Germany. In his early years he worked for Milwaukee Road Hiawatha Railroad, Wrapping Machinery, JI Case and later his career was spent with General Motors as a Millwright. He enjoyed his time working at GM and had mentored many apprentices. He was proud to have worked at GM building mock-ups for the engineers for the Apollo Missions. He also enjoyed taking his family on vacations across country and to many State and National Parks. At age 22, he married Joyce A. Ottmann and for 67 years they would celebrate on the 24th day of the joy of another year together. Walter and Joyce have 5 children, James (Carol) Tabbert of Vero Beach, FL, Joan (Andrew) Perman of Union Grove, WI, Jerome (Penny) Tabbert of Stuart, FL, Jill (Kenneth) Reckers of Brown Deer, WI and Jayne (Peter) Walden of Tequesta, FL. He was also blessed with 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Brother of Arnold Tabbert of Menomonee Falls, WI, Raymond (Delores) Tabbert of Racine, WI, and Lucille Simanek of Arbor Vitae, WI. Brother in law of Lois Ottmann of Henderson, TX. Obituary: Joyce Arleen Tabbert, 86 of Stuart FL, formerly of Spring Hill, FL, Raymond and Franksville, WI passed away Wed., Feb 1, 2017 with her family by her side. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Walter Tabbert. Joyce was born 3, 1930 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin to the late Aloysius and Effie (Lower) Ottmann. She worked for the telephone company during WWII, sleeping next to the switch board to transfer calls from GI's to their family. Everyone knew Joyce in the town of Raymond, she loved people and she loved to talk. Raising 5 children in a busy household she was not only a homemaker, but also spent some time as a cashier, and worked at C & D Foods for a while. Joyce was proud of her bountiful vegetable and flower gardens. She was a great organizer, preparing month long camping trips with five kids and a little dog, all cramped in a station wagon pulling a pop up camper...those were the days! Joyce always ended each day with a wonderful meal. She knew how to comfort her family with food, laughs and a lot of love. Her love of the beach is what brought her to Florida, she loved to walk on the beach and enjoy the solace of the waves. There was never a time she would pass up a good card game and her door was always open. No one left the Tabbert table hungry, and generosity was felt by all. She is survived by her children James (Carol) Tabbert of Vero Beach FL, Joan (Andrew) Perman of Union Grove, WI, Jerome (Penny) Tabbert of Stuart FL, Jill (Kenneth) Reckers of Brown Deer, WI, Jayne (Peter) Walden of Palm City, FL. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Her sister Lois Ottmann of Harlingen TX, and preceded in death by her brother Ronald Ottmann of Franksville, Wi. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Arnold (late Arline) Tabbert of Menomonee Falls, WI, Raymond (Delores) Tabbert of Racine, WI, and preceded in death by her sister-in-law Lucille Simanek of Arbor Vitae, WI. Joyce and her family are all grateful for the wonderful care she received when medical attention was required. Joyce will be laid to rest with her husband at the Florida National , Bushnell, FL on 24, 2017. We are all going to miss her conversations, her respect for her family, her never ending gratitude for what she had. She will always be in our hearts and we thank her for showing us how to love. Obituary: Dwight Steve Tabb, 60 of Pine Ridge, Florida died May 12, 2016. Steve was born in Lawrence, Kansas on 3, 1955 to Creighton and Anne (Richot) Tabb. He leaves behind his loving wife of 18 years, Laura. He is also survived by daughter, Leesa and son, Steve; 4 grandchildren; siblings, Jeff, Sandy and Linda; and mother and stepfather, Anne and Jack Peterson. Steve moved to Florida from Kansas when he was young and lived most of his life in the Mt. Dora/Eustis area. He and Laura moved to Crystal River 8 years ago. He immediately loved Crystal River and so much enjoyed meeting and making new friends. Breakfast was one of the highlights of Steves day and you would find him early in the morning enjoying breakfast with his many friends. Steve was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing beautiful golf courses, but especially enjoyed the friendship of his fellow golfers. He loved boating and spent a lot of time on the Gulf of Mexico enjoying the sun, wind and water. He was a Harley enthusiast; riding and simply enjoying the beauty around him. Among his many business ventures, Steve fixed small engines, built and designed homes, and began a furniture business designing and selling Adirondack chairs. If there was something he wanted to do, he learned the trade quickly and applied his knowledge to so many ideas. Steve was always creating, a dreamer with a mind that wouldn't stop. He was an inventor and craftsman who could fix just about anything. He was most proud of a product he designed and patented, the Newer Spreader, and with Laura was able to grow a successful business which was later sold. Even though Steve had many achievements and successes in his life, he was most proud of "his love affair with his wife, Laura." Laura will tell you that Steve was the love of her life, her rock and inspiration, her strength, her courage and he will always be her hero. Steve loved life and he lived with optimism, a fantastic sense of humor and great love. He made every moment count and he will be dearly missed. Although it is not necessary to send flowers or make donations, if you wish to make a donation, Steve would like all donations to go to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
